O Catsup Plate! Most wonderful of American labels! Nearly invisible! Not infallible! But truly wonderful! I know that guy! Why the hell hadn’t he sent me this record? Oh, wait, that’s right: people quit sending you things when you never, ever write to them or bother to get in touch via any medium because you’re too busy watching sports on television or screwing around in the kitchen. So I wrote to Rob from Catsup Plate, whose label, let me say it again, is an utterly great U.S. indie label made greater by how totally unconcerned it seems to be with whether or not anybody pays any attention to what it’s doing, and I said “Hey, Rob, howzabout you send me that Destroyer album you released? Sorry about how I’m too big an asshole to ever write to any of my friends,” and a week later Rob sends me a package full of records and one of ‘em is Destroyer’s Thief.
