Over the whole thing, by far the biggest shocker for me was Stringer. I did not see that coming and felt it left a massive hole.

Also, how brilliantly was Marlo's fall done. His freedom was more of a punishment than prison, as it left him raging at nobody on an empty street corner. Maybe you could construe that as a hint that he was on his way back to the top, but to me it symbolised that he was finished.

Necroooo is always appropriate for Wire threads

I'm going to rewatch the whole series this winter, and maybe the Sopranos too.

While I don't dispute the importance and influence of The Sopranos, I am quite happy I never have to watch it again.

I'm on record that my favorite scene in the entire series is where Avon and Stringer are on the balcony, talking about where they came from. You're allowed the briefest moment of thinking that maybe things will work out after all, then Avon asks, "what time are you meeting?".
