Grace! Dom!

Grace, I have a friend coming to Italy-- Amy Rude-- on tour. I told her to use Myspace to hook up with you should she be headed to your town. You would adore her. I wish I could come with in her suitcase, but must take care of her house and cat instead.

Thanks for the good wishes, B, they have been passed on.

And, maggie, I've sent Amy a Myspace message so she knows where I am.

I got a new baby (kitten)!  She's about 1.5 or 2 months old, solid black, and basically a little shit.  You can easily hold her in one hand, but her first move in our house was to chase the 8 month old, at least 10 pound, generally feisty and aggressive male cat out of the room.  I was going to post a picture of her in the picture thread (I know we used to ahve a pets thread, but I didn't feel like searching past page 2), but you can't really see her against the dark background with bad lighting.  Her name is Isabelle.  There is a story behind that, but it's rather long and odd.

But she's also always been interested in doing TEFL teaching but was worried that she'd need a degree - she is like me but more organised, more interested in the English language, and she's actually friendly and socially competent so she'd be perfect as a TEFL teacher. Only thing is that she is not very confident in her own abilities.

Anyways, she applied to do a 4-week CELTA course starting next week and has spent this week doing the application and interview process. She just found out that she got accepted and I'm so happy and proud of her. I mean, I knew she could do it, but I don't think *she* knew she could do it. Now she does.

I have a friend who's recently started teaching an ESL class and he absolutely loves it, and so do his students.  From the brief description you've given of your ma, I bet she's perfect for it... Friendliness and social competence are what it's all about based on what he tells me.  He works for a company called Education First that has programs all over the world, and they sound pretty neat.

In college, I tried to get people to refer to things that cost a lot of money becuase they look pretty/afford status as "stevejobs."  It didn't catch on.  Neither did saying "Hotwaukee."

"Hotwaukee."

Biggins, if it helps at this late juncture, I think this is genius.

I have today off, and I feel pleasantly sore and battered.  I think I'm gonna go to the Farmer's Market, then maybe do some cooking!

I've made my final commute to Orange County--with any luck, I may never set foot there again! My only regret is that I failed to blast Rikk Agnew's "O.C. Life" as I hit the freeway for the last time and shout along. Oh well.
