Time for a new np thread.

Fag Cop - I'm Fucking Dead.

I'm fucking struck dumb. Speechless. This is awesome. The following review I came across sums it up.

Quote
Fag Cop "I'm Fucking Dead" 7"
Completely fucked, that's what this record is. If you want totally over-the-top style garbage-punk (and I do), this is your new favorite record. Six tracks of mean-spirited super-shitty boom-box-recorded ear-piercing pinned-in-the-red ridiculousness. Three of these tunes appeared on the "Complete Shit Vol. 1" cassette and are the picks of this litter of shitdogs, but the additional messes like "Dope Womb" (Electric Wizard have to be pissed they didn't think of this one...) and "Skull Splits" ("Nobody likes your record, nobody likes your face") round this out into one really complete piece of shit. If having bleedingly raw minute-and-a-half punishers heaved at your face by losers sounds appealing, or if you think The Mans sound too polished, you should buy a couple copies of this. I did. Some relation to my personal faves the Spread Eagles here, not sure what it is though, but that can only mean good things. Scum stats: 300 copies, screened sleeves.(RK)

From the radio station, I got this album Gospel Choir by the band Retribution, which is a side project of Low with their singer guy.  Much more guitar driven music, actually has Breaker from the last Low album, really good album.

The name of the band is actually "Retribution Gospel Choir". I actually received that album the other day because Amazon fucked up (I had ordered Sun Kil Moon's April), but I sent it back to them - Low has been so terrible lately that I don't even feel like listening to this.

i'm listening to the first KTL album and it's harsh and soft at the same time. it's pretty horrible and soothing.

then i had to turn that off to answer the phone and i've somehow gotten a medley of b+s songs from the second half of the life pursuit stuck in me head, so i guess i'll give that a listen now. funny, i didn't think much of all but maybe three or four of the songs when it came out, but now i think it's really pretty enjoyful.

I was exaggerating, I should have just said "bad" and saved "terrible" for the song "Pretty People". I actually like about five or six songs on the latest two albums combined.

Either way, there's little chance a Low side project would be as good as the Sun Kil Moon album Jean-Yves wanted to order when he got that one instead. Because few things are, really.

This reply is on-topic, by the way, as I'm listening to 'April' right now.

Yeah, you should fix that ASAP, considering Getz was basically the brownface-bossanova imperial rapist, the bossa Al Jolson. White devil! Get the Jobim/Bonfa Black Orpheus at the very least. Earthy, beautiful.

I think what I love about Almanzo is that as self-conscious and pretentious as he is about pop culture and the proper attitudes towards it, he's totally carefree about embodying, with gusto, the raft of hipster cliches like 'white guys playing brown person music are soulless colonialists! black people have more soul, more rhythm!'

i tend to be driven crazy instead of amused by it, but as we've seen on many occasions, i'm nowhere near as laid back about stuff as you are.

Yeah, I like this one pretty well too. One problem I have with it is that the best songs are the shortest songs. I hate it when bands do this.

Basically, the best songs are like 2 minutes flat while the mediocre songs go on for 4 or 5 minutes. This means that though half the songs are quite good, two-thirds of the running time is middling music.
