hah, yeah, i do. only met him once, when he came through richmond drumming for a band called the critic, but he posts on the vivalavinyl board, which is a heavily richmond-populated board, so i've read some pretty ridiculous stories that he's told on the internet. he was also a pretty zany dude to hang out with when he was here.

Soooooo.... Back to hardcore?  On the crustier/thrashier side of things:

Death Side - Wasted Dream

I've posted a few tight Japanese thrash bands in this thread.  This is one of the all-time greats, with members that later went on to be in Forward and Paintbox.  If this doesn't make you want to break shit you might as well go back to Belle & Sebastian.

Martyrdod - Din Aura Av Sorg

Heavy as an elephant's butt.  Crusty as a $5 hot-and-ready pizza from Little Caesar's.  Swedish as the chef on the Muppets.  Epic as "Point Break"

Skitsystem - Stigmata

Formerly featuring vocals from Tomas Lindberg (ex-At The Gates) before he decided to focus more on Disfear, this band sounds similar to Disfear only more unhinged and scary, less rock and roll.

Tragedy - The Ending Fight

Probably my favorite song by this band.  Also probably the most melodic thing they've done.  It almost sounds like an evil NOFX or something.

Doom - Police Bastard

Sick.

i was still "scared" of metal when i was a lot older than 12. i remember when i was about 15 this guy let me listen to a cradle of filth track, and i actually liked it but i had no interest of hearing it again because it was so "scary". just the other day downloaded that album 666 by the polish metal band Kat, slimey did a thread about it, anyway, i didn't wanna listen to it right away because it was like 6 am or something. it's weird. now i'm gathering up courage to listen to Diamanda Galas' first album Litanies of Satan.

Yeah, though the song I put up is my favorite song of theirs, I think the first album's their best stuff.  Way more raw than they ended up on subsequent albums.  But yeah.  "Intolerable Weight."  Wicked sick.
