Amnesiac.  It's on "I Might Be Wrong" and damn, I'd forgotten that this album actually fucking rocks.  The incessant guitar riff is kind of leveling, like a wheat thresher.

So much of my memory of this album is tied to reading House of Leaves, I need to pull it out of that context.  God christ, this SONG.

Peter Murphy - Cascade

"I'll Fall With Your Knife" is such a good song.

spent the morning making a STAX mix for work. this is going to be awesome.

do you have the stax complete singles box set? if anyone has it round these parts i'd guess it was you.

i've got all 3 box sets.  the last one is spottier than the other two, but it's 28 discs full of pretty awesome music.

yeah, i've been thinking about buying it, i love 60s soul. i got motown's complete singles of 1966 and then some best of's, but i don't think i've got any from stax. what years does the first box set span?

the first is 59-68.

here's one for $82
http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=60149231&listingid=19524719&dcaid=17902

though i bought all of mine via ebay

One of the music guys at where I work is still pissed that Radiohead called this a full-length instead of an EP since it wasn't 10 tracks.

i know, right? i think there's one black sabbath album with 10 tracks. led zeppelin have one with 10 and one with 15, but the one with 15 is a double lp.

Complications - Kick You
The problem with getting 7's in batches of 10 or so is that's is easy to miss b-sides. I'll get 8-10 singles in the mail, I'll charge through the A-sides in one go, then the B-sides of the best. The A-side of this is some standard French garage punk. Not bad but then nothing I haven't heard done better before. Didn't bother with the other side until now. Turns out the b-side it's much better. Sweet slow moving rocker that hits hard towards then end.

It's 5 in the morning on a pretty crappy night, and I'm not unhappy or insomniac... quite cheerful really, listening to

Mickey Newbury Looks Like Rain, which's rather lovely. So I might turn over the record and turn out the lights and watch the little orange light on the turntable before the dark all disappears on me...

Definitely! This album doesn't seem to get much love.

Both "Corner Stone" and "Since She Started to Ride" are just perfect.

NIN - Pretty Hate Machine. It's been a long time since I've listened to this country. Probably like five years or something.

"since she started to ride" is the soundtrack of my wife's life. the first time we put on the album, we had that song on repeat, laughing about how spot-on the lyrics were. it's crazy.

Naked as sin, an army towel
Covering my belly
Some of us blush, somehow
Knees turning to jelly
Next
Next

I was still just a kid
There were a hundred like me
I followed a naked body
A naked body followed me
next
Next

I was still just a kid
When my innocence was lost
In a mobile army whorehouse
Gift from the army, free of cost
Next, next

Me, I really would have liked
A little touch of tenderness
Maybe a word, a smile
An hour of happiness
But, next, next

Oh, it wasn't so tragic
The high heavens did not fall
But how much of that time
I hated being there at all
Next, next Now I always will recall
The brothel truck, the flying flags
The queer lieutenant who slapped
Our asses as if we were fags
Next,
You're next

I swear on the wet head
Of my first case of gonorrhea
It is his ugly voice
That I forever hear
Next
Next

That voice that stinks of whiskey
Of corpses and of mud
It is the voice of nations
It is the thick voice of blood
Next
Next

And since the each woman
I have taken to bed
Seems to laugh in my arms
To whisper through my head
Next
Next

All the naked and the dead
Should hold each other's hands
As they watch me scream at night
In a dream no one understands
Next
Next

And when I am not screaming
In a voice grown dry and hollow
I stand on endless naked lines
Of the following and the followed
Next
Next

One day I'll cut my legs off
Or burn myself alive
Anything, I'll do anything
To get out of line to survive
Never to be next
Never to be
Next

right now i'm listening to a mix i made yesterday after some discussion on the black sabbath thread. it is called "Black Sabbath Songs That Do Not, In My Opinion, Get Enough Love", and this is the tracklisting:

1. Wheels Of Confusion
2. After Forever
3. Hole In the Sky
4. A National Acrobat
5. Killing Yourself To Live
6. Lord Of This World
7. Electric Funeral
8. Planet Caravan
9. Looking For Today
10. Supernaut
11. Megalomania
12. Spiral Architect
13. The Writ

whether i'm actually right about none of these songs getting enough love is open to discussion, but really, this is just a mix of black sabbath songs that get left off the best of comps that i consider to be hidden treasures on the lps from which they're taken. and damn if this isn't an awesome fucking mix. i'm loving it.
