Orgasm was recorded in like 1969 wasn't it? It's this rocking, crazy avant garde album full of noise and found sounds and shit.

in answer to jeb and davy--an esp disk release from 1969. the first song is this drony-bagpipe rock thing, and everything else sounds like the godz if they were about 5 times as primitive.
julian cope writes about it on his headheritage site.
and myke, don't get me wrong, it's an awesome record, but "caledonia" is the only song that sounds like that.

Well I started playing Metallica properly a few days ago and thought they were awesome until I noticed that the
whole fucking album
of Master of Puppets is in E minor. Individual songs are great but I can't handle one-key albums. It's not even a fucking gimmick like with the Raveonettes.
So doesn't that mean it's actually in the key of G, since E is the relative minor of G?
E is the relative minor of G MAJOR. So, if they were playing the same notes, but making major scales out of them (ie if G was the tonic instead of E), it'd be G major.

So
about half of the Scarlett Johannson thing is streaming
. It's not terrible (and I kinda like the take on "Falling Down"), but it's not consistently good, either. It's produced by the TV on the Radio guy, and chunks of it sound very TV on the Radio, but other chunks of it sound karaoke to me.

Huh, well that's better than I thought it would be. I got as far as "Falling Down." I like how the vocals are subdued and not as prominent as they might have been. The Bowie cameo was a nice touch. The banjo felt pretty unnecessary, but I'm growing to resent the omnipresence of that instrument in indie music more every day.

I have been going through albums I have to review for the radio station, so far there has been
Architects - Vice
; very Against Me
Eli "Paperboy" Reed & The True Loves - Roll With You
; fun 50s soul throwback, sorta like a less funky jamie lidel. He's a Boston guy too, so he gets the extra nudge to success from me.
Islands - Arms Way
; Pretty artwork...boring as all hell
Cellphone - Hooray For Earth
; despite the stupid album title and band name the band is enjoyable...big crunchy guitar with shoegaze synth filling most of the sound.

in 2006, islands and tapes 'n' tapes both released albums that made it into my year-end top 10.
this spring, both bands have released new albums. woo-hoo, right? but i've listened to tracks from both, and in both cases, i have been discouraged from buying the album. bummer.

Er...I don't understand why it would be in the relative major when I said it was in E minor. All those songs are minor.

with a touch more on-topicness, i've been rocking out to the melvins. i got this cd for £5 and it is ozma but with the whole of gluey porch treatments tacked on the end. pretty much i love the melvins now, so i guess it was a good purchase.

eggnog! (i know i know, that trailing off wasn't leading to an end of a sentence, but i had to add that one in there too, as it's on the list).
i've now moved onto black sabbath, following all the talk about one particular book that came out recently. my listening is pretty much governed by lptj of late.

if you easily get tired of E minor, you might as well as forget metal as a whole

No, I like E minor fine, just at times listening to 8 songs in a row of it can get mildly boring. E minor's cool.

All my band's songs are in E Minor, except for a cover. But most of them have at least one key change in the song.

I'm listening to that Necks Good and Red mix that was posted in the Country Music thread. This is nice as my work day winds down.
