Because the old thread had a hangover.

So Sierra Nevada's Kellerweis is absolutely amazing.  I usually think of Sierra Nevada as a reliable, but rarely extraordinary brewery.  But my god, I fucking love this stuff.  Cloudy and well-balanced, beautiful flavors when served cold on a hot summer day, one of the best wheat beers I've ever had.

EDIT:  The new thread's title, of course, is from John 2:9-10, which is one of the few pieces of Biblical wisdom that I've wholly internalized.

Where? Barcade?

I myself had a bunch of light beer, some Maker's Mark, and a half bottle of Bubbles' Apple Swish tonight. All leftover from Saturday's BBQ.

Hey, can we go back to the 2 40s talk?
Y'all have apparently never lived in Britain. 2 40s is nothin'
I have to agree, because a few weeks ago I went to a house show wherein I drank 3 40s. But guys, here's the thing. I first drank 2 40s of beer. Then I took an empty one and filled it with half and half whiskey/coke and then I drank that. This was on a Tuesday night, and I was at work on time 4 hours later. I mean, I don't live in Britain or anything, but Omaha is still pretty good.

I would like a drink.  I think it would be nice.  I am sick and on hella antibiotics.  I do not get a drink.  I am a sad kitty.

So Sierra Nevada's Kellerweis is absolutely amazing.
I saw this in the store just today and suggested to my friend that she pick it up, but did she listen to Tero?  Noooo.  Psh.

Yeah, the last time I drank that much malt liquor, I spent the next day on the couch praying for death.

Fuck I wish I could afford spirits more often. I would like to spend my LPTJ time with some rum and/or whiskey but there isn't enough in the cupboard.

My girlfriend just showed me this article featuring relatively inexpensive liquor, but it's not exactly cheap, coming from Gourmet and all. And you guys are one of those forward-thinking countries what with the low infant death rates so for all I know liquor might be heavily taxed down there anyhow.

Do you have a bathtub?

Alcohol is quite heavily taxed, yeah. Not to Scandinavian levels, and it doesn't stop binge-drinking being the national sport, but still, quite expensive.

The cheapest vodka I could find last time I bought some (about 2 years ago I guess) was $35, and it wasn't Smirnoff. What I want is the time and equipment to brew my own spirits. And why do I need a bathtub, to sprawl drunkenly in? Done and will do again.

The Martinez is a drink that I think everyone should adopt as their standard drink.

So it's sort of like a Manhattan with Gin, then?

That would really just be a sweet martini.  The difference is the maraschino liqueur, which makes it sweet and warm and awesome.  Something like Hayman's Old Tom Gin makes it perfect, too.  I do equal parts gin and sweet vermouth, 1/4 oz or less of Luxardo, a dash of Peychaud's bitters, and an orange twist.

It is a fucking awesome drink.

Ah. Maraschino liqueur. I suppose if I'm going to go to the trouble of looking it up, I should probably read the entry.

There are two or three bartenders in DC that are like "thank god you ordered this drink because I love making it"

I had Southern Tier's Oat - Imperial Oatmeal Stout last night.  I love Southern Tier, and I usually really dig oatmeal stouts, but this is not a good beer.  In fact, it's an almost bad beer.  I get the whole, "it's 'imperial', therefore there's more alcohol, therefore it's going to taste a bit boozy," and I'm fine with that.  I like most of their big beers.  But this one, shit, waaaaaaay too boozy.

I swore off imperial stouts following last Halloween, which was more barfy than I would have liked. (Note: dressing as Lemmy does not make you Lemmy; you are still a girl who is bad at drinking.)

Hey so I was seriously considering getting my swerve on before my flight tonight. I'm a pretty inexperienced flier. I got bombed once at the Vegas airport and no one seemed to give a shit, but the first time I flew out of LaGuardia the dude at security got in my face and was all "How many beers you had today, son?" even though I was sober as a judge. I asked a few people about it, and apparently it's against regs to get drunk pre-flight? I know this sounds incredibly naive, but I'm just wondering if I have a few pints before I go through security am I gonna get fucked with?

Never, in my experience, has it been a problem.  Safe travels!

(I say that having, I suppose, a decent amount of flight time/experience, and having had, on at least one occasion, more than "a few" pints before a long-ish flight.)

I have gotten drunk before getting on a plane about 2309975 times and no one's ever bugged me about it.  Get some gum for your fellow passengers' sake, though.  If you're worried about security just go to the after-security bar.  Enjoy the flight and safe travels!

There is no after security bar at LaGuardia! Or if there is, I haven't been able to find it yet. AND I HAVE LOOKED

*Although there is at the Delta terminal! Fuck you, US Air!
