I'm a big fan of Bull McCabe's on St. Marks for afternoon outdoor drinking.  I call it "Fuselage" because it's real name is super generic, and the back garden has a plane fuselage in it.  Don't stay through the evening, though, because the place gets packed with assholes.

There's also Revival just outside of Union Square, and after 4:00 Boxcar in Alphabet City is awesome.  But don't tell anyone.

If you're in North Brooklyn, I'd say Spuyten Duyvil if you're feeling spendy (their garden is one of the nicest in the city), or Harefield Road if you're not. There's also Iona in south Billyburg--they've got a really expansive back patio with a pingpong table! http://goo.gl/EApb

Metropolitan, my fav gay bar, also has an amazing, amazing multi-tiered outdoor space: http://goo.gl/EKyk
