Hey, cool! I don't really have anything to add, just want to say it's cool to see Zola Jesus getting some recognition.

I was wondering whether you'd have some commentary, Jeb, as I know they are from Milwaukee.

Warren Ellis posted about them too recently, but then, I guess John linked to that, so there's no reason for me to even mention it. Still, though. Lotsa people are stoked about them.

I guess I should finally go ahead and listen to the mp3s of theirs that I downloaded off WFMU's Beware Of The Blog a month or two ago.

She's from Madison. She's a friend of a friend, but I've never met her. I dig her music though. Luke, formerly of the Dead Hookers, currently Dead Luke and in a million projects (including occasionally playing with Pink Reason), plays with her. He's a swell dude, and also he has a record coming out on Troubleman Unlimited soon.

thanks john for finally giving me the final push to zola, been hearing and reading a lot about her lately. good stuff so far.have you heard of Circuits Des Yeux?  kind of similar, heavy mostly indecipherable vocals, loads of tape hiss and heart and loneliness. do not think it is as much of the 80's as zola is though, maybe more of some barren wasteland we have not made it to yet.  might be worth a check out if you like this so much.

I saw Zola Jesus this weekend, and had a lot of things to say about it. She's really quite remarkable, one of the more captivating performances I've seen, and I finally picked up the Stridulum EP and can't stop listening to it. It's a real motherfucker.
