I function in an extremely similar manner. Can't seem to just jump into anything because there are too many thingst that need doing, so I end up doing nothing. Sucks.

in some ways, that beats getting to work on five hours of sleep with no excuse or fun drinking memories to underscore it. I'm tired, even more disheveled than usual, and utterly unprepared (which, sadly,
is
usual).
guess I'm not in much danger of puking though, so probably have you beat there.

furthermore
, I think my metabolism is finally beginning to slow, after a whole post-adolescent decade where weight loss and muscle gain/loss have been incredibly easy. after several years with a finely calibrated bowelclock that rang for perfectly timed post-breakfast evacuations, for several weeks now the need has consistently set in at 9:47, as I trot across campus for a 10 am class. the consequences, while not yet disastrous, are never very pleasant (mostly falling into the "fuck it, I'll be four minutes late" category).

having typed that, it does dawn on me that I've also been remarkably sluggish of late, counting my trips up and down the stairs to my 4th-floor walk-up apartment as "exercise."
which may provide some explanation, but does little to alleviate the annoyance.

Anybody know a way to get collections callers who keep calling for other people off your ass? This is getting fucking ridiculous.

Is it the same agency, or different ones?

It's a collection of different agencies looking for two different people. Most of the time, I'll answer and tell them to fuck off, but within a week, it's a different agency calling again.

I assume when you say 'tell them to fuck off' you are indeed telling them that it's not you, right? If they keep calling you should send them a C&D.

Yeah, usually I have to do a significant amount of explaining before they believe that I'm not actually Alberto Rodriguez. Ugh. I suppose I should start keeping track of these things. Stupid modern life.

My favorite part is when he talks about Steely Dan being too "jaded" and "bitterly cool" for him. Apparently he's never listened to one of his own records. Which, y'know, lucky him!

FUCK YOU, AMAZON.
I've been waiting and waiting and my $150 Hunters & Collectors box set FINALLY came today. I sold off a chunk of good stuff from my collection to afford it, and was really looking forward to this.
It's a 16-disc box, heavy and huge, and obviously expensive (the most expensive musical item I've ever purchased, actually, beating out the Bob Dylan SACD box by $25 or so)...I really expected Amazon to understand this, and pack the damn thing securely.
THERE WAS NO PACKING MATERIAL IN THE SHIPPING CARTON. NONE. The beautiful box set is beat to hell. The seams along the corners have split, the little brass knobs on the disc drawers (yes, disc drawers) are loose and about to fall off, the shrink wrap and labeling is literally hanging off in tatters. There are spots where the paint has been scraped off the shell, revealing brown cardboard underneath. Overall, it looks well-used. If they had sold this as a 3rd-party, they would've had to use "Good" to describe the condition--not New, not Like New, and not Very Good. I would've paid $75 at most for this--half of what I actually paid, half of what it's originally worth.
Fuck, fuck, fuck. What are my options here? It's a limited edition release, only a few thousand were made, and they aren't showing any more available on the item page at Amazon. I do want the music after all, and this box is my best chance to get it all (some of the individual albums sell for $30 and up), so this isn't a simple return & refund scenario. Do you think they'd give me a partial refund and let me keep the damaged item? I guess I'd have to document the damage, huh. I don't even have a camera.
No fucking packing material at all. It rattled around in that big box--on trucks, on conveyor belts, probably bounced down a few staircases along the way--all down the eastern seaboard. I can't believe this shit.

I have heard that Amazon takes shit like that relatively seriously. If I were you I'd get in touch with Amazon customer support and make your way as high up the chain as possible. There's been stories about people not getting shit, or getting broken shit, and some Amazon dude like, driving 200 miles to their house the next day to give them a new one. I don't know if they'd have a new one of those since it's all limited and shit but I bet they'd try to do right by you however they could.

Yeah, there was a line on the invoice that said something like "Have feedback on how we packaged your order?"
Do I ever. I'm leaving feedback there, and then I'm going to try and find somebody to talk to about this shit. I wish I had a digital camera. Probably worth borrowing one for this.

I'd say call first. A place like that, they may very well take your word for it. If they want a picture, get a case number and then go scrounging.

Ok, so I called those guys, brought them up to speed on the situation, and the customer service rep told me they had 1 left in stock that they would ship out to me as a replacement. He said it should get to me by TOMORROW. I'm skeptical, but we'll see.
Part of the reason I'm skeptical is that I've revisited the page for this item and whereas a few days ago it said "1 left in stock," now it says "Allow 1-2 months for delivery," which tells me a few things: a) they don't actually have any more in stock, and they'll have to get another one shipped from Australia, b) if that's the case, it certainly won't arrive tomorrow, and c) since it's a limited edition, they may be assuming they can get another copy of something that has already sold out.
On the other hand, if you look on the
"More Buying Choices"
page, there's a leftover box tucked away in there being sold by Amazon for the same price. That could be the one they're sending me.
The guy has also emailed me a shipping label to return this damaged copy to them. I asked him if I could wait until the new one arrived to mail it, and he said no, better to send it right away. But since he's already put in the order for the replacement, I think I'll just hold onto my copy until the replacement arrives, particularly since sending mine back is going to require a trip to the fucking UPS mailing center. Furthermore, who's to say that the next copy won't be in equally bad (or worse) condition? I do want this box, for the reasons stated above, and so I guess I need to decide which scenario is worse: not having it at all, or eating the "new" price and keeping a damaged copy. I shouldn't have to make that decision.
Here's hoping the replacement gets here quickly and in decent condition. Even at that, I'll still have to drive to UPS this week and stifle my present state of frustration. I honestly feel like all this inconvenience warrants a gift card or some shit.

I have a dentist appointment in an hour for a root planing session.
The thing is that I'm phobic about going to the dentist. I get panicky thinking about it.
My teeth are salvageable, although I'm down a couple of molars, but I'm fucking freaked out about the prospect of sitting in the chair.
There will be drugs.
But still...

When something has to do something unpleasant, I remind them that it's like going to the dentist: it will eventually be over.

Damn davy that sucks. I'll put in a good word for amazon re: broken items--ordered a rather large plasma tv just last month and the delivery dude called me from the airport and said they'd dropped it taking it off the plane. Had a two-minute talk with an amazon woman, they shipped a replacement on expedited delivery, got it a couple days later no questions asked
