Hm, looks like I do have to explain it after all:

Plenty of people say plenty of specious things on here with little to no basis in fact.  If we needed everything we said to be backed up with peer-reviewed journal articles, this would be one boring and empty set of forums.

but pollo's right.  The paper itself would be pretty stupid, too.

I thought it was a particularly assholish thing to go to a health practitioner and say that she was being stupid in the way that she was managing her illness because of some gobbledygook.  I wouldn't go to Jim or Don and say that gremlins are causing their network IP outages.

It's one thing to say something in a "hey, maybe try this, could be helpful!" tone vs, a "hey, what you are doing is stupid and terrible for you, why would you do such a thing, you should be doing this, and I will approach this with a tone of condescending superiority." CBS might be a lot better received around here if she could reformulate her generally non-fact-based (that's me being generous, btw) ideas into the former format rather than the latter. The latter approach is just asking to get taken down a notch or five, so Dave's nitpicking seems pretty fair game at that point.

I've had the trots all day... Not because I'm sick. But I'm afraid to leave the house and ride the bus, even though I need to type up, print & deposit this paper tonight. Then I will indulge in the booze, socialize and play video games... All things not enjoyed in weeks.

 But what if I poop on the bus!?!?
