Nah, I am actually just enjoying it. I don't find any element of it nearly foreign, incomprehensible, or offensive enough to justify liveblogging.

1)  That has nothing to do with TV.

2)  It's Complicated is definitely a good little rom-com, of the type that's sorely needed in this bleak post-He's Just Not That Into You, pre-Valentine's Day world.

3)  Sure it depicts older protagonists, *and* mixed/broken/whatever families, but, more, importantly, it does so without Making It a Whole Thing.  It's character-driven!  The fact that old people and divorce exist is just taken for granted.

4)  Also, they show people smoking weed.  This might not seem like a big deal, but they actually show people physically taking a hit (as opposed to: smoke-filled room, Character is acting crazy now!).  I didn't realize how rare that is until I was watching it.

edit:  John Krasinksi is still lame, though.  On topic!

Thoughts on Big Love last night? I kinda really dug the new credits. Not so crazy about the continuing ballad of Bill's Mom & Dad, that shit is getting pretty played out.
It would seem that they've become unable to contain Ginnifer Goodwin's hotness any longer, however.

Typos!

Not so fond of the credits, but maybe they'll grow on me. This episode was pretty funny, but I definitely found myself wondering more than once whether it was intentional or not. Also more than ever a bit bewildering in that "let's see how many dozens of subplots we can fit in an hour" (Ben being in a band, among other things, really seemed to come out of nowhere) - I think this is both a source of frustration and a strength, in the sense that when you've got a subplot that's not really that interesting or entertaining, you can be sure that they'll move on to something else within a minute or so.

In other news, I watched the entirety of Parks and Recreation over the past two weeks! It has ups and downs, but a lot of stuff that made me laugh very hard, so many thanks to people who recommended it.

Oh fuck yes, I'm so down for that.  Is it Mon?

Sunday night, I think?

Yep. It's set in New York this time, Freddie Prinze. Jr. is in the cast, and apparently there'll be more Elisha Cuthbert than in recent seasons. Already a decent recipe for ridicule right there. I'm EXCITED.

Seriously, cbs, the whole deleting things thing is the single most disruptive thing you do here. I'd rather you simply trolled, than the constant writing, nuking, rewriting.

Staying up past my bedtime to watch my gal/future wife Hilary Hahn on the Tonight Show. Conan just made some really vicious jokes at Leno's expense, that was kinda fun. This whole soap opera would be fun if I cared.

Conan's totally gonna win this battle, regardless of what happens to him. Everybody under the age of 50 prefers him to Leno and the network guys are acting like huge pricks and pretty obviously reneging on their entire deal with him.

Plus, the internet has taken the gloves off. Jeff Zucker's cellphone number is everywhere right now.

I was at the symphony tonight (they were playing Mozart), and I saw a signed poster of Hilary Hahn in the bookstore in the concert hall at intermission. I thought, "hey, I should see her play", but then I figured that if the poster was already signed, that probably means the show is in the past, which makes it inconvenient to try to attend now.

I'm seeing her in May in Pittsburgh as part of an early birthday present, she'll be doing the Sibelius. Also on the program is Shostakovich 5, so I'm basically going to be having one continuous heart attack for three hours.

She ripped the fuck out of some Bartok last night (one of the Romanian Folk Dances for violin). She also played something else. I wish she'd played some Ysaÿe instead; behind all of the technical virtuosity, her best talent is her keen sense of phrasing. When Conan said he was "amazed" that she played without sheet music, I wanted to punch him through the TV screen. Still, honest-to-God classical music on network television, nice!

Tonight's musical guest is Lifehouse.

My expectations for that aren't that high. I'm hoping that the musical interludes are kept to a minimum, and it's a straight engrossing drama.
