I only have Yes and Cure for Pain, but of those two, I think I prefer the former.

Not quite 2010's second Super Tuesday (that will be March 9), but a very good one all the same:

High on Fire - Snakes for the Divine

Johnny Cash - American VI: Ain't No Grave

Shearwater - The Golden Archipelago

Yeasayer - Odd Blood

Or, as she puts it in the title of the first new song, "Just Do It!". I also really liked her show in Strasbourg in December. Like you, I bought This Fool Can Die Now at the show, and though it definitely has some good stuff, I definitely didn't feel like it lived up to the live experience, but Calcination does; it's one of the best records of the young year.

BT, how's the Johnny Cash album?

As for me, preorders I made a few weeks ago have started trickling in:

Last week:

Shearwater The Golden Archipelago (+ 50-page book)

And yesterday:

Quasi American Gong (+ retrospective compilation)

the four rap albums were 99 cents each (kinda psyched for Freedom of Speech); not sure where Elton John came from; and the new Pollard was the main attraction, about to get its first spin momentarily.

That's where I got it. If you want the bonus tracks badly enough, it looks like you can order it for the same price, with free shipping, from their website.

BT, how's the Johnny Cash album?

I'd say it's about on the same level as the previous installment in the American series. Which is to say it's merely good, not great. This impression comes after only one listen, though, and is subject to change!

Shit, thanks for the tip!  I can indeed do 8 dollars, I just didn't think HoF would be at a BBuy, thus necessitating an internet transaction.  Every time I visit the Relapse website, bad bad things happen to my checking account, so I try to stay away.

I'll get this shit today on my way home as a consolation for the fact that I got a traffic ticket from a bogus fuckin situation.  Word Pook, word.

What's up with that new Shearwater album ?  Yall didn't like Rook?  That was my going to sleep jams for a while.

Is the High on Fire album pretty great? Is it better than Blessed Black Wings? Cuz I bought that one and fucking LOVED the first track, but couldn't get into the rest of it, really. I want to like them, and for $8 I'd be glad to give them another shot....IF the album has been well-received.

On a related note, sometimes you've just got to stop what you're doing and think to yourself, "Jesus fuck that's a great band name."

Have you listened to their stuff pre-Blessed? Like Surrounded by Thieves, maybe? It's got a decidedly different sound: same staff, same why-can't-I-do-anything-as-well-as-Matt-Pike-plays guitar, but very different production.

Posted this in the other thread, but thought it worth mentioning again: iTunes just sold its 10 billionth song. A Johnny Cash tune.

He's making a joke by acting like you just admitted that you like chubby girls.  His sniping is getting more and more oblique, but I actually understood that one.

Anyway I like chubby girls AND Blessed Black Wings is my favorite HoF record, so put THAT in your pipe and smoke it, Williamsburg.

i like surrounded by thieves best personally. its murky and heavy as fuck. their last couple albums have been real growers for me, because at first its like "well its more high on fire" which is cool but not really exciting. but then i listen to it for a while and learn the songs and get really into them and end up loving it. im imagining the new one will be a similar experience. i havent had a chance to spin it yet though.
