You can change it to "only me" under the privacy settings. But beyond that, ask yourself: why would you ever give your phone number and/or address to Facebook?

dude, I wouldn't! My phone number isn't on there, I just was wondering if they some how could find it out through sneaky facebook tactics.

As far as I know, you actually have to tell them your phone number. And honestly, it's kind of insane to think about how many people have put their phone numbers on there without thinking. I mean, I know some people who don't care and put their phone number right on their website, but I'd think that's a big privacy issue for most people.

I know right! I was shocked when almost every single one of my friends has their phone number on that list. I guess it kind of isn't that huge a deal with cell phones and texting and all that because the number isn't connected to your home anymore, but it still feels so intimate to me.

I think I probably laughed out loud at that field when I was completing my profile. Few of my real-life friends have my phone number, and I generally avoid talking even to them.

Yeah, I have enough complete strangers calling to harass me about other people's bills as it is.

This makes me want your phone number!
I'd never put mine on facebook.

Don't we all have davy's phone number?
peacocks - if you click on "to learn more about the phonebook..." button it says this
Quote
Facebook Phonebook displays contacts you have imported from your phone, as well as your Facebook friends. If you would like to remove your mobile contacts from Facebook, you need to disable the feature on your mobile phone and this page.
so not sure where that leaves you...
Definitely not all my friends are in this phonebook list, and I'm pretty sure I haven't imported any contacts from my phone, so I'd guess that if you have your phone number on your fb page at all, even if it's set to "friends only" it'll show up in people's phonebooks....

What's everybody so afraid of having their phone number 'out there' for? Are you scared I'm gonna prank you?

I clicked that button to delete the numbers just in case I had somehow imported things from my phone but my phone isn't that fancy so I doubt I did. It took forever and froze my screen so I just navigated away.

What Facebookdid (with their depressingly standard lack of transparency) is to change the default setting for phone numbers to 'friends'. So, unless someone changes it, you can see your friends', and they yours, but not just anybody's.

I think it's pretty sweet that I can open the Facebook app on my phone, go to my friends list, and tap to call anyone whose number is listed in their profile. Can't imagine a whole bevy of situations in which I'd need to call up some obscure name from high school, but I could if it struck my fancy, DAMMIT.

I've been helped out on occasion by the fact that a friend put their number up on FB, and I'll probably do the same.

Yeah, not really getting the privacy issue. It's a phone number, not a naked photo

My reasons have less to do with privacy than a general distaste for telephone conversations.

I also detest phone conversations. I much prefer email and texting. Because the internet has ruined my ability to communicate with humans.

Let me guess ... you've never been on the receiving end of nasty threats from some tool who couldn't deal with an online argument.

Right but the argument is that you probably shouldn't be friends with the kind of people who will call you up and threaten you?

Are you serious? What a creep! I mean, acting creepy is totally my thing because it's funny and makes people laugh (usually, if they aren't total tools) but I don't know what I'd do if somebody got all aggressively in my face, blowing up my phone with mean nastiness.
