It is 1pm on the 3rd of May, and here in Trondheim, Norway, we're experiencing a proper snowfall. Obviously the weather can't read a calendar.

(Let's pretend I posted this yesterday)

Today I got home from FT practice and sat on my fire escape, smoking a cigar, drinking a Boddington's and reading Mason & Dixon until it got too dark to read.  It was awesome, especially since tomorrow the weather's gonna be shitty and I have to go all the way downtown for a meeting.

Today:
Got in to work at 7 and spent two hours in a meeting, 15 minutes of which had anything to do with anything that I do or know about.
Spent 4 hours doing something that normally takes 2 or less because I kept getting interrupted by stuff that was immediately important and couldn't be ignored.
Tried to explain the new shrink report to the store manager, but eventually gave up because he kept getting calls every 30 seconds.
Was put in charge of the computer repair guy.
Had to watch 2 hours worth of CCTV in fast forward to see if someone was actually acting inappropriately (he wasn't).
Did my other managerial duties.
Left work late.
Called the vet and made an appointment.
Drove across town through torrential rain.
Ran into my house, grabbed my cat and drove back through the torrential rain to the vet.
Came home and gave cat medicine.
Watched my room mate get seriously mauled breaking up a really nasty 4-way cat fight.
Spent 5 very worried minutes trying to find the cat who had been at the vet to make sure he was ok.
Picked a claw shell out of my other room mate's cat's face.
Watched Big Bang theory.

Oh, also somehow managed to jam my left index finger and had to make a splint out of coffee stirrers and blue band-aids.

I have never seen domesticated cats fight like that before.  It was actually pretty terrifying.  I'm taking my room mate to the doctor tomorrow for the bite on his hand.  The wounds on his face, chest, legs, left arm and right hand/arm look fine, but his left hand got bitten (I'm pretty sure my little cat did it).  The bite put two holes right in the vein on the back of his hand and it's horribly swollen and apparently has started to tingle if he doesn't keep it elevated.  He's still not sure if he wants to go to the doctor but fuck that, I'll get someone to knock him out and carry him to my car if I have to.

Cat mouths are crazy bacteria laden environments, and you can get dangerous infections from bites. Good luck to him!

That's the crazy thing, he had a girlfriend get a really nasty infection from the exact same thing and is still acting like he doesn't want to go to the doctor.

Not just cat mouths, as any visit to the doctor's office on a Monday will show -- not all those young men with infected hand wounds have been punching cats in the mouth.

Yeah, although cats have some especially bad bacteria in their mouths and on their claws, hence the existence of things like "Cat Scratch Disease" which is a Bartonella henselae infection. That's not something you are likely to get from another person.

OT: It seems that I've actually consumed enough coffee to accomplish some things. I love how the way I talk about it, you'd think I have some kind of massive production complex, but I really just talk about the desk in the basement with all my shit on it in the context of whatever is going on with it on that particular day. Sometimes it's the studio, today it's the editing suite. Calling it by what it's being used for makes me feel like a big professional.

So I took him to the doctor today.  He got two huge, painful antibiotic shots in his hips, a prescription for the biggest, most expensive antibiotic pills I've ever seen, and the doctor asked him to come back tomorrow.  He's not planning on going  Rolling Eyes

I recommend a swift blow to the back of the head, followed by a period of dragging in the direction of the doctor's office.

Yesterday ended at 3 am. Today began at 6:30. The joys of parenting.

I'm going to need more sleep than this at some point--I'm attending a cookout this evening after work--but I feel too wired to nap after I drop Finn off at school.

(technically yesterday) I hate working on a piece for several hours and getting nowhere except maybe worse than it was when it started off.
