Crazy 8 tried to kill him!  Gale was a nice, schlubby, meth cook, but he was still a meth cook, and one who would have been perfectly willing to be complicit in Walt's death.

These all sound like very Walter White-esque rationalizations

They're pretty garden-variety anti-hero things.  I mean, Stringer Bell did worse, and presumably you didn't have much trouble rooting for him.

...? I don't really have any trouble rooting for Walt, except when the plot gets needlessly convoluted and ludicrous.

I think the episode was pretty effective.  Deep down I knew Walt did it, and I spent the episode being confused by plot developments that only make sense if Walt did it, and rationalizing for why someone else MUST have done it.  GUS IS A MURDERER.  JESSE IS A FECKLESS MORON.  etc.  But I knew Walt did it.

Ah I know I've been grousing like always, but this season is good. Entertaining, anyway. Doesn't have the thrills and the high stakes that se. 3 felt like it had, but it's been fun every week.

Yeah, honestly man, the only thing I thought that could be described as anything like "convoluted" was the long, drawn-out parking garage scene with Gus.

You don't think the whole Brock distraction is convoluted? I thought the subplots set up to facilitate the main through-line this season were all pretty narratively muddled. Like can we talk about Ted for a second?

Eh. The whole Ted thing was dumb, sure, in that it pretty much existed only to add tension to the situation vis a vis the money that still could be spent on stuff. And I guess I do have a beef there: Walt, at this point, has made multiple *millions* of dollars, right? Why is just over $600,000 given to Ted so much that he doesn't have half a million to give to Identity Change Guy? Unless I'm seriously misunderstanding the timeframe involved, the math just doesn't work.

Because most of the money was laundered through the car wash. The money in the bags in the crawlspace was what Skyler couldn't figure out how to launder without making the car wash look suspect. I imagine it would be a terrible idea to try to pay Ted out of the laundered money, or to pay the ICG out of the laundered money.

Ah, ok. I guess I figured it was too early in the game to have to account for the laundered money. I ain't never laundered a money before, so I don't really understand how that all works.

So is there just a liquidity problem, then? Like, the bulk of the money's been laundered but since they don't have access to it in cash it's useless for this purpose?

That was my thought, yeah.

By the way, wonderful interview with Giancarlo Esposito here.

What I want to know, though, is why would disappeared people need to continue to do things properly (when said things are only under their initial legal name)?

One of my favourite minor characters this season has been Kuby. I just discovered that he's (the actor) a stand up comedian by trade.

Who is Kuby? IMDb tells me he was in two episodes (I have no idea which episode Crawl Space even was), but nothing about that character, and the guy doesn't look familiar.

He was the guy that Skylar used as a proxy to muscle whatshisface out of the car wash, and also the guy who went over to Ted's with Saul's huge muscle dude. I think he's pretty good, too.

Honestly, who gives a shit how Brock was poisoned? I barely remember who this kid is. It's not going to reveal anything more about Walt. I'd say he's already done four or five absolutely irredeemable things. I wanna see some fucking plot movement, dang it.

Actually, it's funny: I just saw this episode, and the other day I was thinking about how, at this point, I'm not sure I like any of the characters in this show enough to be bothered by their deaths even on a superficial level. Except, maybe, Jesse's girlfriend and her kid.

My money's on the poisoning being an accident.

Well it's not like the kid died.

So whats the story for next season?  I hope everyone dies.  I am going to be so mad if walt doesn't die.  I am excited to see some walt jr vs jesse action.

EDIT: walt jr kills walt.

EDIT EDIT: walt kills walt jr.

EDIT EDIT: hank and walt jr team up on walt and jesse.  father son, or father son?

gus's skull was the coolest.  I was all WHAT HE HAS TO BE DEAD, WALT YOU CAN'T EVEN MAKE A BOMB.  YOU'RE USELESS.  I am glad nobody else died (glad but like ... I dunno.  that' pretty clean).

EDIT: dea isn't a word!

EDIT: it would be really cool if house would reference breaking bad.  mostly because house is such a trashy show anyway, i think it would fit.

i'm going to rewatch this season so hard.
