So I've been scoping out some comics on my iPad and am looking for suggestions. I got all the walking dead on it, and dig em, and the gunslinger...blackest night? Any good?

Man, that is one thing I can see being really great on the iPad.

You should look for Stray Bullets, if they're even available as digital files.

RASL is so fucking good, man.  It's by Jeff Smith, the guy who did the kid-friendly, cartoony comic Bone.  This has a similar style, but it's a pulpy-as-fuck yarn about an interdimensional art thief.  It's great!

It is!  It is!  I love Bone!  But RASL is basically like all the talent of Bone, crammed into a Raymond Chandler sci-fi story.  WAY EXCELLENT.

Oh yeah, comics on this are gorgeous. 1-40 are available with army race car spinoffs. Gonna get em. You'd be surprised at just how fantastic this fucking thing is. It's amazing, and I'm not exaggeratin'.

I liked bone, sold. I'm digging this walking dead deal, derivative as it is, it's the good stuff.

He lived to 70 and changed the face of American comics!  That's pretty good!

Another comic-related thing from recently: I read a couple of Octopus Pie strips, and loved the art!  So I ended up buying the collection that came out recently.  As it turns out, although the art is indeed fantastic, the writing is shit!  I hate it!  So that was a little disappointing.

Way I figured, it's a Nice Pete arc, you're supposed to feel uncomfortable.

Although honestly the last arc I really enjoyed was the Todd-teleports-to-North-Korea storyline, and I think that was sometime last year.

love "walking dead."  i dig "dmz" and the new "batman and robin."  i hear that all of kirkman's other work is really great as well.  i can't speak for it personally because i haven't gotten around to it.
then of course there are the vertigo standbys from the 90's and 00's like "preacher" "100 bullets" "y: the last man" and "hellblazer" etc.
i really like steve niles'('s?) and ben templesmith's collaborations, the most famous of which is "30 days of night" and its sequel "dark days," which are visually stunning and got seriously shafted in the movie adaptation department.  they also did "criminal macabre," which is great.  i had a phase with that stuff and haven't checked out any of their respective solo works.
come to think of, i really don't know shit about comics.  hope i helped though.

Yeah I get the impression that he's not really into the daily grind of the strip any longer. I kind of wish he'd just pack it in and do a couple/three books a year or something, cuz what's coming down the pike right now just ain't to standard.

I'm liking the current storyline!  But then, I have a soft spot for Nice Pete in general.

The current storyline is ok. I liked the Phillipe going home one just prior, but then, the Phillipe and Cornelius storylines tend to be my favourites. I kind of hated the Todd in North Korea one, but that's because Todd is a one note character, and its a note I don't care for much.

Man I really dug Todd in North Korea, but I tend to enjoy Onstad's periodic flirtations with the avant garde

Also here's a link to a prequel comic for Inception: http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/inception-comic.html

The comic itself is kind of blah, but I love love love the formatting and Flash panel progression. I'd definitely pay to read comics online this way.

The assetbar discussions of "dialect" are a real bright source of horror, if'n you like to watch several Achewood fans divine what "trash talk" really sounds like.

I just thought that Onstad was doing something akin to John Berryman's "Henry in blackface" deal, where the terms and arrangement are familiar but there is a simultaneous obscuring going on.

Also I like Onstad best when he is surreal and stretched and the end seems unsure, so perhaps I'm just reacting poorly to the uniform dislike of this arc.
