I went to the Midwest Archives Conference this weekend. It was pretty awesome! Met a lot of great people. Unfortunately, did not have time to hang out with LPtJ: Chicago (which is not so awesome), but it was a good time anyway.

I passed a truck with a license plate that said, inexplicably, SHEEPLE, the other day.

My favorite was a minivan with HAHAHA
Or some other car that had IH8RT1 ..that was driving on Rt 1.

Awesome thing I forgot: I won a yearlong membership to one of my favorite museums in Philly. The cards came in a few days ago and are sparkly.

I once spent an insomnia-riddled night looking at pictures of American license plates that said nasty things if you know Russian. Oh! Here it is: http://www.flickr.com/groups/homepa/pool/

My mother is visiting me on Friday! I am so excited!

Those are amazing photos.

My awesomeness: Tax return for over $5600 to be deposited on 4/30!  It is quite a relief to get this money!

Those photos are excellent.

In my awesome news, I made a bunch of pictures of my own today and managed to burn almost 1200 calories. I'm not quite sure what to do with all that surplus.

I opened a savings account!  I had one for about a year before that I closed when I bought my car, since saving for a car was it's main function, but now I'm making a lot more money and can keep a permanent savings account, AND deposit in it every week.  This is pretty huge for me.

So I took the day off (as my "anniversary day" - my anniversary was almost two months ago now, but I think we get like a ninety-day window to take it), and I was up and about by 8AM.  Today's objectives include: render new Tuskjuds legible, learn more Farsi, and reacquaint myself with at least one videogame.

Yeah, thanks! TBH Nottingham and Manchester were my ambitious choices out of the five I was able to make, and I didn't hold much hope of getting into either. Now I have an offer from one and an interview at the other. Eeep.

So what's the offer entail, just out of curiosity & if you feel comfortable talking about it?

Basically,

I applied for an combined honors degree in English Literature and American studies. I got any email today saying that they are unable to offer me a place on that degree just yet, because the requirements for English Literature are very strict (an A at AS-Level in English) which I don't have. However, they said that if I send them some work and the details of exactly what I am studying on my Access course, that they can give me further consideration for that.

They have given me an almost definite offer for an alternative, the single honours American and Canadian Literature, History and Culture degree, which I would also be really happy with, and honestly, that's what I'm mostly interested in anyway. I just figure that the combined hons degree with English would better prep me for my future ambition of becoming an English teacher.

Nobody reads Canadian literature.

Just a bunch of short stories about lonely old people all isolated on the prairies buried under snow, and shit.
