I just found out that the guy who wrote the awesome web based Yiddish dictionary that I use is the same guy who started the Jargon File, the primary document of hacker lore! Raphael Finkel is the coolest hacker ever!

It's raining!  Hooray!  Wash some of the pollen away!  Of course it also means that once it stops raining, the pollen will just stick worse, but still!

Is it just me, or is the pollen a little more overwhelming than usual this year? My sinuses have been putting up a good fight, but I mean, the air is like 30% pollen at this point.

Yesterday it was almost at the point where you'd kick up pollen dust when you walked, it was getting so thick on the ground.

It certainly seems worse than usual up here.

I can't tell.  It looks like pollen hell to me every single year.  My Camaro is no longer blue, it's kind of a yellow-green.

I am having itchy eyeballs, itchy ears, and occasional breathing problems, plus oral allergy syndrom URGH, but overall way less bad than recent years (knock on wood).  I guess all my allergy & asthma meds are helping?  I need to shell out for new air cleaner filters ASAP, though.

I think the pollen thing is the constant rain/snow/rain we've had for about three months combined with the sudden super hot summer weather

it is a real drag.  I have to cut down on fresh fruit, esp peas, apples, strawberries, etc. during allergy season.  kiwi makes me look like I've had a collagen injection go awry, so I avoid it entirely.

oh hey, my place of employment stiffed me on reimbursing my in-my-official-capacity trip to San Diego in January for three months, which I figured was some kind of payback for leaving, but all of a sudden I just got a big old direct deposit that actually exceeds what I had been advance-cleared for. rock the fuck on, I think tonight I'll buy some shit online.

I suppose if this can help people with life-threatening allergies, then yay.  As for me, I'd rather just keep taking my pills every day.

I began a totally awesome power grab at work today, and am playing it like a pro, now that I have a few power grabs under my belt.  I feel like a ruthless captain of industry.  (As with previous power grabs, the ultimate goal is to make everything work better, make people happy and save the company money, but hey, a power grab is a power grab.)

filed my taxes, and finally did my 2008 ones too; turns out I owed California $56 but got back a relative windfall from the federal government. I don't care so much about the money, but am tremendously relieved to have finally taken care of this--in the future, I stay more on the ball, or at least such is the goal.
