Hey nny that is some quack bullshit that they put you on medication without doing any additional tests. In fact, there's a even a name for
getting high blood pressure at the doctor's office
. So I think you should get a second opinion.
I mean, she had decided to put me on it based on three blood pressure readings at physicals over four years, twice with her and once with a doctor who I didn't like so I asked to switch.
I stopped taking it. It is an evil medicine and I am probably going to die of 14 other things before slightly elevated blood pressure anyway.

I dunno, there were no caps in that post so the medication seems to be working
and this is my vow to when I die be known as/for something other than CAPSLOCK.

Saw my doctor today for a follow-up on an ECG that I had a few weeks ago, and she wants me to have an echo. Trying not to worry. She said I shouldn't. We're just trying to get to the bottom of some annoying palpitations that I've had forever, but have been much more frequent since I was pregnant with E. She had a name for them today, but i can't remember it....She also wants me to get a 24hour monitor to see if that will catch it so she can see what it looks like.

NNY - there are a lot of blood pressure meds. It's likely that you'll find one that doesn't make you feel like total shit.
That's exactly what happened w/ me. The first one we tried left me feeling totally fatigued and feeling a lot of malaise; I talked to my doctor about it and we switched to something that doesn't make me feel like total garbage, and in general I feel a lot better.

I think I have like a pinched nerve right now or something? I've never had anything like this so I don't really know, but I think I slept funny for a couple of days and at first I was just sore but now I'm in rather a lot of pain, at some points pretty unbearable. Like, aside from the migraines I occasionally get, this is maybe the worst pain I've ever been in. It's hard to say, I guess, and it comes and goes a bit, but it's really sharp at the moment. The epicenter is in my right shoulder, and pain radiates outward from there. A lot of pain my neck and I'm not really able to turn my head very well in either direction, though I can go a bit further to the right than the left. My right arm is kind of numb, too, just vaguely, if that makes sense. My fingertips seem especially so. Working out today seemed to help a lot at first, but now I'm worried that I maybe made it worse. So far sleep has been impossible tonight. Not really sure what to do.

heatpack? massage? acupuncture? icy hot? all of these have helped me at different times with similar probs. I've got the most spectacular results from acupuncture, to tell you the truth.

Playing football made me susceptible to "stingers," and twenty years later I still get neck pain and numbness like Jeb is describing from time to time. As you suspected, it's a radial nerve getting pinched by vertebra as it exits your spinal cord. Once irritated, it swells, making it even easier to irritate again = a positive feeback loop of pain.
Things that strain or flex the neck bring it on/ back: biking, throwing frisbees, volleyball, carrying something heavy on one side, sleeping funny. Sitting at a computer too long can also get it going.
Initial treatment is rest, keeping your neck in a neutral position, and anti-inflammatories. I know you're no fan of opiates, but they've gotten me through my worst nights with this problem. Smooth steady shoulder and back exercises (light weights, no jerking) seem to help as prevention but not so much on recovery.

As an update, I bought some tiger balm which seems to help a lot, and I've been taking Ibuprofen, and that seems to be keeping it under control. I'm trying to be careful about how I sit and what I lift and all that as well. Band practice last night was a little rough and by the end of it I was back to being in a considerable amount of pain. It does seem in general that it's already starting to get a little better, but it's kind of hard to say.
Definitely going to take it super easy at the gym tonight if I don't end up just skipping out.

If you have enough money go get a massage or adjusted by a chiropractor! That shit is great. Accupuncture never helped me but I have been getting adjusted and massages one to two times a week since my bike accident and I have really really improved from when I first started. I had similar symptoms to you, too.

Maybe I'll convince M to buy me a massage for Valentine's Day or something.
Feeling better today so far, for sure.
Going to skip the gym tonight though.

What the fuck. I got out of bed and took a pee and blew my nose, and there's just like tons of fresh red blood up in my head. I've had bloody noses in the morning from cold, dry air cracking up the tissues, but then it's crusty and finite. This shit won't stop as far as I can blow and it's wet wet wet. No pain or nothing anywhere.

go for a steam bath or pour boiling water over a couple chamomile tea bags and half a sliced cucumber and couple slices of lemon, making a tent with a towel over your head. drink a pot of herbal tea with honey and lemon, plus take a couple teaspoons of raw oil a day, then call me in the morning.
