Have you heard any of his previous stuff? I'm not a big expert or anything, but really quite liked what I have heard by him. Some of it is kind of quiet folky singer-songwritery stuff, but some of it is definitely more ambient/experimental/whatever. So I'd say the artist/label pairing does make sense. I should definitely give this a listen.

Never have! But I like 90% of 12K so I'm all ears. :-)  I would actually really like to find something in that vein that I really liked.

Folk virtuoso Andrew Bird has announced details of sixth studio album, and the first since 2009′s Noble Beast. Titled Break It Yourself, the album was produced by Bird himself and recorded in his barn in Western Illinois. The end result will be released by Mom + Pop Music on March 6th.

What have you tried? The best album by a wide margin is The Mysterious Production Of Eggs.

I'll give it a shot. The only one I have is Noble Beast, but I heard another one in a friend's car. He's crazy talented, no question, it's just a bit rarefied for me. But we'll see.

New mag fields record is sort of suspect.  New Andrew Bird is really good--maybe his first album that really got me since the Eggs one (any of you who like hot jazz should get Oh The Grandeur, that shit is wonderful).

I'm excited about hte new Belbury Poly, I didn't realize that was out. Been meditating or trying to sleep with a lot of that and Advisory Circle on.
