Man, the Blackhawks have looked terrible against the Vancouver Canucks the past few games--or maybe the Canucks have just looked that good?  They've been skating circles against Chicago, anyway, looking like they have more men on the ice even when they're in PK mode.  Not to mention catching every break--seems like every time the puck hits something, it takes a Canucks bounce.

Anyway, the 'hawks are down 3-0 in the series and will exit the playoffs with another loss.  I don't expect them to win it all again this year but I'd sure prefer them not to be swept in the first round.

Next game is 7pm our time tonight, so if you happen to think about it at that time, cut out a motherfucker's heart and burn it as an offering to Odin or Thor or whomever, and entreat them to break a few of the Canucks' legs.  Especially that dirty motherfucker Raffi Torres.  Fuck him.

bet you thought this was going to be a parody thread didn't you?

I own a blue plush shark that a friend of mine bought for me because "as a Canucks fan, I figured you'd appreciate this one."

The reasons for my Canucks fandom are mostly outdated (Alexander Mogilny, Pavel Bure), but I stick by them anyway. Sorry Jim.

(I don't follow hockey at all these days, really, and never particularly seriously did - never lived in a place where you could actually watch good games, not even on TV - but I still maintain that it's by far and away the most fun to watch sport.)

For all I know Iggy could be lying about his friend, but he speaks the truth where the uniforms are concerned.

clinging to vestigial remnants fandom is the very essence of fandom, I can't fault you here.

"most fun to watch sport," for sure

As a Canadian, I am technically a hockey fan. It's in the constitution. Life, liberty and the pursuit of hockey, something like that.

And as an (originally) west coast boy, I am technically a Canucks fan.

But in real life I have no interest at all in hockey.

I miss the Nordiques.

And the Whalers.

Talk about best uniforms.

Strangely enough, I had signed photos of Pavel Bure and Mogo hanging over my bed when I was young... More because they were hockey players I liked, rather than Canucks - Mogilny was still a Sabre, in fact.

I also like the Whalers' old uniforms. And the fact that they played in a mall. And Brass Bonanza.

I did enjoy catching the last bit of the Red Wings' victory over the Blackhawks a week ago.  That was exciting.  I don't follow sports at all, but I will always sit down (or jump around) and watch a Red Wings game.

His ridiculous 76-goal season was with the Sabres, so I'm inclined to agree with you, davy.

I don't mean Sabres-era Mogilny was my favorite Mogilny -- I mean...he was my favorite.

Ahh... Well in that case, those 76 goals were more than a career high, so it can work both ways. My favorite is definitely post-collapse Owen Nolan.

I'm also pretty sure that Sabres-era Mogilny was my best friend's favorite in that sense, prompting his support of the Canucks a year or two later and continuing to this day... of 7-2 defeat.

I just found out that Teemu Selanne is the playoff leader in goals scored. That's not right. They need to let that man go home to his family and die in peace.

7-2

Yeah man, I guess Luongo got goofy last night?  I wasn't able to watch the game but we were keeping up with the score via a buddy's phone alerts.  Didn't hurt that the 'hawks had Bolland back either.

They may still exit the playoffs on Friday, but at least they weren't swept, and they sure as hell made a statement last night.  And if they do get past Friday and come back to the United Center, I guarantee the series is going 7 games 'cause that place will be a madhouse.

I'll be honest, I've been following the Calder Cup playoffs more closely than the NHL ones. Go Checkers! Er, go Pens, too.

Hoping the Capitals can hold off this third period push from the Rangers. It means a lot to have shorter series early on in the playoffs. Ovechkin's goal was sweet.
