goddamn first world problems (annoyed)

OK I am willing to admit that I might be a nightmare customer, or at least more difficult than average.
But OK
If I walk into your bakery, wait for the line to die down a little bit, then once there's only one other person waiting, I ask about one of your pastries that is displayed on the counter, "What can you tell me about this pastry?" it probably means I am unfamiliar with the pastry and might like to know a little about it, like what's in it, etc. The proper answer is not, "It's right there, can't you see it?" And don't act all fucking surprised when I walk out of your shop then. If I wanted to be treated like an idiot/asshole, there's plenty of places I can get that for free, I don't need to pay you for the privilege.

I tell you what, I have seen some asshole/idiot customers in my day, and what you said would not even register as either for me. That's pretty fucking ridiculous.

possible extenuating circumstance: if it were that hot Chicago bakery woman that my girl has a crush on whose twitter Jim knew. her failing to act mean would be something of a disappointment; I figured that was part of the thrill of stepping into her place.
otherwise, yeah.

Jim, I know you can be kind of a pain in the ass, but 'What can you tell me about this product here that you're selling' is pretty much the assumed context for any retail interaction, ever. 'Can't you see it' is a borderline sociopathic response.

Hence my vexation.
Also, Natalie Z, the hot pastry chef adf mentioned, would have been terribly nice to me in person and then, after I left the shop, would have tweeted about how I was so fat I probably couldn't even see my own dick and was no use to my wife in bed.

oh whoa, M is gonna be bummed.
also, my current annoyance is that I moved into my apartment after summer ended last year, and had no idea how miserable it would be. I mean, the cracked window, clogged sink, lack of mailboxes and working fire alarms, absence of any credit checks or requests for references, etc., should have signaled something, but
man
, the feebleness of the a/c is really something; it's a choice between humid muggy noise with periodic breezes and closed windows with a loud machinery sound that results in sputtering drafts of cool air. this is going to be a rough summer.

Do you have central air, or a window unit?
My window unit kept overheating and shutting down last year, as it's installed in a wall-sleeve. I was determined not to make the same mistake this year, so I increased the airflow around the unit by building a contraption made out of a pine frame and a couple of repurposed fans. It's working beautifully, so far! Still loud machinery sounds, but I'd happily sit next to a jet engine if it kept me cool.

When will I break down and begin leaving my window units on all the time, even when I'm gone? As soon as I do, I know my power bill will jump to 6 or 7 times its normal amount. How long can I hold out?

I like the direction this thread has taken. (ie, mild annoyances and complaints)
I'm sick today and I have two also sick children to look after when I'd rather be asleep with my trusty bucket by the bed. I guess I should stop being such a feeble man-type about it and woman up to the task.

I came home drunk at 3am last night and made a snarky comment on someone's wall post. She's this girl from the dept that I barely know, and I think she took a bit of offense. I am still somewhat of a jerk, it would seem.

Gorramit, I ordered two guitar pedals last week. One of them apparently hasn't shipped out yet, almost a week later. The other left Hong Kong on the 30th and hasn't been heard from since. I imagine it's out there having some sort of Hangover-style misadventure and will eventually arrive at my house with a knob missing and spattered with someone's blood.

A Joyo octave. It's a Chinese company that the guy who mixed our EP introduced me to. He bought one of their overdrives and loves it. Plus, the thing was crazy cheap--like less than 40 with shipping and everything.
The other one is an MXR Badass 78 that was on sale for 65.
Between these and the Crybaby I won in a giveaway, I went and bought my first pedalboard. Now I'm impatiently waiting on the stuff to get here so I can actually stick 'em on the thing. Hopefully they'll get here before our next show in a couple weeks.

That's why I'm getting a bunch of curly cables to run everything through. I'm fashioning one into a guitar strap and setting a few more on fire onstage so I can get that Vintage tone.

After over three days at the dealership and $359 lighter, my car, thankfully, no longer shakes when the a/c or heat fan is going. Unfortunately, as I discovered on my way home, the a/c only blows hot air. Great when it's 85 degrees and you're 5 months pregnant! Especially great when you have a several-day road trip to MPLS planned for tomorrow. Argh!
So b/c of aforementioed trip to MPLS and then working all weekend, I have to wait until next Monday to fix it. At least F has graciously allowed me to borrow his car for the trip.

I've been regularly getting sunburned across my back and shoulders through my shirts, it seems. I don't ever remember this happening in years past, other than an occasional dappling of freckles across the neck-to-shoulder transition. If it's gonna get burned, I might as well wear mesh or something for comfort. Maybe I'll just stop going outside.

What I'm hearing from your post is that Marc Maron does still suck? His podcasts are like a phone call I would not answer.

Absolutely. D is a devotee, but I just don't get it. Dude is aggressively unfunny. Some of the interviews are fairly interesting, but not because he's a good interviewer--simply because he's known all of these fucking people for 20 years.

My friends claim that his poor attempts at some kind of humor are acceptable because he acknowledges that he's a failed comedian. I can take that it's unfunny - he's an interviewer, after all, so it's no great shame as long as his subject keeps it going. What I really dislike is his 'frankness' or whatever when he lays out his personal history of Problems and all these public acknowledgments. Like it would be inherently interesting to hear someone admit that he's fucked some things up but is more aware of his negative behavior. It's SOOO boring. It amazes me sometimes that he can ever get out of the way enough to let his interviewees say something interesting.

I like his podcast a lot--I think there's something about his terrible/uncomfortable "I'm such a mess!" schtick that makes his guests try to neutralize him by being candid themselves. Of course, this means the interviews vary in quality depending on how interesting the person he's interviewing is, but a number of them are interesting and/or brutal in ways that celebrity interviews almost never are. I mean... he often interviews the same people that Nerdist or Sound of Young America or whoever interview, and his are almost always more interesting.
