Not my photos of course, but I wasn't sure whether to post it here or in the 'Random' thread.

Anyway, these made me smile.

This is also not my photo, and I'm sure you've seen it 600 times already by now if you've been reading the news, but:

This is about 30 miles north of where my grandmother lives. This is the main road on the island, and the only drivable route on/off. There's a regular ferry route to the south (30 min ride to the next island down, then another two and a half hours to the mainland). They've set up an emergency ferry past where the road is washed out. Don't know how long it will take to fix. Her phone came back on yesterday, at least.

Did a crazy hike. 26 total miles in 2 days, including a side hike/climb up a 12500 foot peak.

I haven't looked on a desktop yet but there should be a gigantic momma moose and calf. Someone else got some great pics ill post when I get them

This is Whitetail Peak, which we eventually scaled

This is my gf climbing across

Here's some view shots from the top

Fucking awesome. Great shots too. What was the total elevation gain on that hike?

Fucking awesome. Great shots too. What was the total elevation gain on that hike?

Day one started at 7000 feet.  We hiked 9 miles and gained about 1000 feet of elevation, mostly in the last mile or so.

Day 2 we started out and hiked one mile.  in that one mile we gained 2000 feet of elevation so we were at 10,000.

Then we ditched out packs and headed to the peak.  It was about two miles away and it was up a smaller peak, then down, up then down, about 500ft each time.  I think there were five elevations like that.  Then we climbed the peak which was about 12600 it turns out.

By the time we got to our packs it was like 3:30 and we had to hustle to hike the ten miles out before dark, so we literally walked nonstop for 4-5 hrs after that.  I've never been so tired.

There have been a bunch of amazing photos in this thread lately! That hike looks insane Freddy. I went on a 2 mile "hike" this weekend and only made it half way. I bow to you. I think I'd cry if I saw all those mountains in person.
