Yeah, I followed him for a while, and then one day realized that he never said anything that funny; they were just kind of tame things, structured like jokes, with the name Steve Martin above them. That was indeed a sad thing to realize.

While the quality of his movies has gone down in the past 30 years (I was set to argue for LA Story but then I looked it up and it was 30 years ago and I was amazed) the quality of his books has--well, first it has come into existence and then it has gone up.
An Object Of Beauty
was better than it had a right to be.
That being said I also do not have a Twitter because I am not funny.

...I'm rubber and you're glue?
Thanks peacocks, but I meant that I do not think I am or could be funny in the way you mentioned, in 160 characters or less and pre-planned. I hope that did not sound like I was fishing for internet compliments. And yes, a lot of how I am funny has to do with my face and is therefore inaccessible to the internet.

I quite liked Shopgirl the book and Shopgirl the movie!
It may not have been the most groundbreaking concept or anything, but I felt like the story was told with refreshing subtlety in both mediums.

That said, I like that the word 'envisioned' implies that this conversation happened 5 years ago, as I told you my idea for this new social media site I was designing.
's why i chose it

So I guess this thread's about Twitter now so, Jim, do you have any good beer/brewing follow suggestions?

I liked Shopgirl (the book) a great deal! And I like his banjoing. I guess Twitter's just not the best medium for the dude.

me posting isn't really a return, since lately it means I return every couple days. But a lot of times, it FEELS like a return, you know?
Especially because each of my days at work is now approximately 3 days long, insofar as that is how they feel.
My old job got upgraded, so I have to do all the stuff I used to do, but also my phone rings every 45 seconds or so, and I have to stop whatever I'm doing and answer it and talk to a student who, about 1 out of every 4 times is an angry dick to me. It's real weird. Wears on a guy.
