What's urrbody doing today?  Lu and I are headed to my parent's house shortly.  Not sure if there are any strange/fun dishes on the horizon...the last couple years, my dad has been really into weird turducken-type things, but I don't know if he's got one this time or not.  He sort of peaked last year with one that turned out to be too weird and gamey for a lot of the fam.  It was, like, pheasant/duck/something.  Stuffed with cajun rice/sausage stuffing. I ate the HELL out of it.

My mom always does at LEAST 2 turkeys in addition to that, so, rest assured nobody went hungry.  Nobody ever does with Mama Biggins.

I'm going to my friend Ashley's house. Last year she held Thanksgiving and the pilot light on the turkey fryer kept burning out and she overcooked her central dish, a rib roast. It was still the best Thanksgiving ever and we ate the hell out of some foods and drank a bunch of poinsettas (triple sec/champagne/cran) that my girlfriend makes. This year I bribed her into doing it again by buying her a really nice turkey fryer for her birthday and went over to brine the bird last night.

I'm making

1) Leek Bread Pudding
2) Cornbread/chorizo stuffing
3) Mashed taters
4) Barefoot contessa roast broccoli (throwing in some fractal cauliflower) - THANKS NOG

My lady is making

1) Chocolate banana custard pie
2) Green bean casserole (mushroom soup/fried onion style)

There are gonna be 7 other people each bringing multiple dishes

We've been dieting all month for today.

I brought 4 bottles of pinot over yesterday.

I think 2/3rds of the people are bartenders/chefs.

It's my favorite holiday.

We're going to Dayton today, Columbus on Friday, and the Wooster/Cleveland area on Saturday/Sunday. It's going to be exhausting but also really nice and full of awesome eats.

In Oberlin, Ohio, until Saturday! My seventh Thanksgiving here. Miles, if you're in the area, you should come eat bagels and lox and stinky cheese on Saturday at the wedding reception brunch Jacob's parents are hosting for us.

Oh man! We're mostly over toward Akron, unfortunately. Some lox would crush, though

Man, what a good thread title. I'm having dinner with my dad and stepmom and one of my sisters, but I have to leave early and not drink that much because I'm leading a meditation session at seven. C'est la vie du maître spirituel.

I'm thinking of bringing like 5 bottles of Georgian mineral water.

DCDave that sounds amazing. I want to make that drink sometime for the holidays. I'm eating a small dinner with my mom and stepdad then heading over to crescent beach on siesta key to hang with my extended fam on my dads side at a sweet hotel on the beach for a few days. They are having thanksgiving tomorrow. I can't wait, I love it there!

I have never had a tofurkey, is it gross? I usually make a main dish like veggie ratatouille or quiche and feast on side dishes.

I forget to mention the part of Thanksgiving where I do a bunch of laundry and spray diatomaceous earth into every visible crack and crevice in the apartment

I decided not to go out of town for Thanksgiving but all my friends went to visit their families, so I'm all by my lonesome, dogs excepted. Cooking, but not anything special or indulgent. Still, much to be thankful for!

Chillin' with the ladyfriend's family in Mascoutah, IL. It's about a 5 minute drive from Belleville, IL, where I ran my first 5K this morning with L and her brother & sister! That was something else.

Just made my extra special garlic & parsley mashed potatoes and white veggie sausage gravy. Currently taking a breather because my body hurts.

Also: by 2 pm, I'd already had a glass of wine, a mug of cider with a shot of Jameson, and a beer.

We threw together thanksgiving dinner today because fenster was feeling a little under the weather.

We made maple bourbon sweet potatoes, cranberry relish and bought stuffing and some turkey from the market. We could've done a first course of leftover butternut squash and leek soup from the night before but it felt like enough. There will likely be leftovers of the rice pudding with Rum raisins I made Tuesday, though.

Hung out with a bunch of linguists last night, and ate a lot. I brought greenbean casserole and Brussels sprouts with a shitload of bacon. Turkey was awesome, and yes, the sweet potato had marshmallows on it. I still don't get the sweet with savoury thing. But wow. So much good food.

It was a little sad that this was my first non-Misfit Thanksgiving since 2006, but considering that I've been wandering the house sneezing and making angry dinosaur noises all day, it was probably for the best.

I made mountmccabe take video of the part where I set bourbon on fire for the maple-bourbon sweet potatoes; that is definitely the best part of dinner prep. His cranberry/pear/pineapple relish is delicious and will go on every other food item I make this weekend.

I hope y'all have excellent times of food and camaraderie!

I saw the commercial, and thought, holy shit that looks like Almanzo! Whoa, he's talking about collecting Godzilla toys. I think that IS Almanzo!

Wheel of Fortune does not seem to be on. Thanks, football. The one time I actually want to watch that show.
