If I posted the thing at full resolution you could see a lot more detail in the stippling and dot work, but this will do.
Lessons learned that have varied from previous tattoo experiences:
1) Going directly over the spine: uncomfortable.
2) Going directly over the edge of the shoulderblade: rather uncomfortable.
3) Extensive dot work: Annoyingly uncomfortable.
As you can see it abuts a flower (a lotus) on my right shoulderblade. The plan is to bring the apple blossoms that cover my left arm and part of the back of the top of my left shoulder around to the back to create some symmetry. (More flowers! Just what I need!)

Also, sorry I can't be a total badass like coldforge. I'm just all flowery and dot-worky. La-di-da.

I had to look that up, but it does! It is just a variation on the flower of life.

Since Briggins' link is broken and I wanted to show M that terrible NMH tattoo, I found out that it comes up when you google image search "terrible neutral milk hotel tattoo."

Mine is a tattoo of Jeff Mangum's face
Why do you need that I see Jeff Mangum's face everywhere like on pancakes crop circles etc.

That is so awesome, Em. Can't remember where, but I posted a few weeks ago about reading my first bonafide new age book. The title was ...
THE ANCIENT SECRET OF THE FLOWER OF LIFE
Woo woo woo
Alas, the only legit thing in the whole book was the sacred geometry on your tattoo.

Thanks guys! I finally took the bandages off last night and was happy to see that it looks even better in person and all calmed down--obviously it's impossible to get all that spaced-out dot work "perfect" so a close-up is not the best way to display it. Also the shading around the edges is cool.
And fishjim, not only do I bet that that book is a doozy, but I also bet you dollars to donuts it's in the library of one of the centers I hang out in. There is much burning of sage, many, many crystals, all the latest in new age music, and I have had reiki performed on me there multiple times. So yeah, I chill with the new age crowd. Doesn't mean I wouldn't call bullshit on 99% of that book--my new-age chilling is done with a healthy dose of skepticism. When I express this skepticism, the response I usually get is, "Oh yeah, you're a Taurus [eye roll]." So what are you gonna do? Great people though, truly.

Looks wonderful, Em!
When you said "Sacred Geometry" my brain automatically went "Oh man, I hope it's a triforce" but I am in no way disappointed.
Davy/Dave/Myke...who did your stuff again? The fellow in Athens?
