the new X anthology. how come nobody told me what an amazing band they were?

i dunno. Under The Big Black Sun is like the best album of the 80s.

no kiddin'. i got that record for 3 bucks in denver, listened to it intently for a week, loved it so much i bought this.

after listening to it once, i think i still like the black sun tracks the best. but maybe that's just familiarity talking.

($3)

i know you dudes buy albums, cmon dont be shy

anyway, ive been meaning to pick up the Ufomammut for a while since the mp3s have been totally rocking me. high quality stoner/doom metal in the kyuss or electric wizard vein (heavier and spacier than kyuss, not as out there as EW). its really good, if you like that kinda thing.

edit: oh yeah i was this close to buying the new bonnie prince billy single for the version of Agnes off Sings Greatest Palace Music. its got a new version of Blokbuster on it which i really wanna hear. i talked myself out of it though since i was already blowing a bunch of money. anyone heard it though?

I bought the new Clinic cd. Makes me pretty happy. Makes me pretty happy is not the name of the new Clinic cd. Makes me pretty happy is what the new Clinic cd accomplishes. For me.

got the 2-disc joe jackson anthology in the mail today. great stuff, of course.

also ordered that guided by voices bee thousand: director's cut on vinyl. if you order from the scat records website, you can pay an extra five dollars and get the album (+ new bonus tracks) on CD, too. sweet. i've never had bee thousand, so i'm definitely looking forward to this.

Found CocoRosie's La Maison De Mon Reve in a used CD shop not long ago. That was a great find! Grabbed a new copy of Devendra Banhart's Rejoicing In The Hands that day as well.

young people "war prayers

a band that my boyfriend introduced me too. le sigh

the byrds untitled double lp

of course i dont need to mention which one this is.. but i bought it on vinyl for like 4 bucks.

all bought in the last few days. and all used. i love nyc for having places that sell good used cds/records. hallelujah!

killer album

too bad about the new one, i havent been able to get into it at all. dailor's drumming really pushed them into greatness. their drummer now (the guy from circle of dead children, dont know the name) can't match up at all. his drumming is straight up grind style, blastbeat/fill/blastbeat/fill/simple slow part/etc etc. which works great for CODC (awesome band) but it doesnt gel well with TITD i dont think. the horribly cheesy pics in the booklet and the lame lyrics dont help either.

What's on that? I've been way into Joe Jackson for about a year now, at least his 79-91 run, and the recent reunion stuff.

chronologically speaking,

6 songs from look sharp!
5 from i'm the man
4 from beat crazy!
1 from jumpin' jive
5 from night and day
1 from the mike's murder soundtrack
3 from body and soul
3 from big world
4 from blaze of glory
2 from laughter and lust
1 from night music
1 from night and day !!

i've really been into him lately, too. i bought look sharp! on cd because a wise friend recommended it. within a couple months, it was already one of my favorite-ever albums. the next four albums after look sharp! i've been able to find on vinyl...cheap. total steals, all of them.

5 from i'm the man - On Your radio, It's Different For Girls, I'm The Man, Amateur hour, Don't Wanna Be Like That
4 from beat crazy! - no clue.
1 from jumpin' jive - no clue
5 from night and day - Another world, Steppin' Out, Breaking Us in Two, Real Men, A Slow Song
1 from the mike's murder soundtrack - Memphis
3 from body and soul - Be My Number Two, You Can't Get What You Want, Happy Ending (this album is my favoruite)

4 from blaze of glory - Down to London, not sure.

i picked up a nice little bundle of 45's at the local salvation army.
there was some decent stuff, noticeably;
Hank the Knife and The Jets, which appears to be dutch rock, in english
A fifth of Beethoven by Walter Murphy and the Big Apple Band
Goodnight Saigon by Billy Joel
The Supremes- Baby Love b/w Ask any Girl
Love is all by Roger Glover. No idea what it is but it's great

oh, and i picked up kid koalas "some of my best friends are djs"
'tis be good, 'tis be good
