does anyone here have one of those bands where it seems 'bad luck' looms whenever you try to see them?

For me that band happens to be one of my favorites... The Mountain Goats.

Everytime they come around, I always end up overcharging my account when I get tickets. Back in Feb. when they came to Philly I ended up buying way to many tickets, I think I ended up with 6 or 8 tickets and only 4 of ended up going. Just this past Friday I e-mailed John to see if he was going to come back to Philly and when he e-mailed me back saying he would, I bought the tickets right away... not thinking that I had almost no money in my bank account until Wednesday.

So I guess what I'm getting at is do any of you guys happen to find yourself in the same spot?

Okkervil River.  Earlier this year they had three shows in a span of about 2 months here.  Now, in Nebraska, we're lucky if a given band comes around once every couple years or so. (Unless said band contains Tim Kasher.  Then 3 or 4 shows a year is the norm.)  The first opportunity was a show with John Vanderslice in Lincoln that I desperately wanted to go to, but due to an unfortunate legal incident I didn't have a driver's lisence at the time and couldn't make the trek.  Then, a few weeks later they played a show with Azure Ray in Omaha.  Having my lisence back I was determined to go, until I got a phone call from a friend I hadn't seen in two years saying he was going to be in town that same night for a get-together with his girlfriend's family and that I should come keep him company/catch up on old times during the aforementioned goings-on.  I finally made it on the third opportunity a few weeks later when they returned for a show with Shearwater and the Minus Story.  I chatted with Jon Meiburg briefly at that show, and he said it would probably be quite some time until they made their way back to Nebraska.  Needless to say, I was quite relieved that I made it.

Entombed.

Every time they come play here, I manage to miss them... (and bands rarely come to South Africa)

First, I got the tickets, and didn't manage to get transport, and the bus was not an option.

Second time, I was due to come back a day after their show, and thus missed it. (My boyfriend went, bastard.)

about 4 times I have planned to see the Dresden Dolls, and 4 times something happens where I end up not being able to go within an hour before leaving.

It only really pissed me off when they were playing with Sleepy Time Gorrilla Museum, and I sooooooooooooooo wanted to see them.

Ha! I thought it was just me. Repeated attempts to see BTS and Super Furry ANimals have been thwarted by bizarre mishaps, not to the band but to me.  Not anything painful or bad per se, just stuff comes up that keeps me from goingto the show, even when I have a ticket. Argh! So Frustrating.

Yes!

Even when you have everything planned to perfection, something will go wrong.
