it looks like it could very easily be a pretentious, obnoxious pile of crap. but it could just as easily be really funny, so im interested. i'll go see it most likely.

I sense that, too. But I think it's unlikely, only b/c they seem to be taking everything so lightly. Like, if it weren't a comedy, I think there'd be a

higher risk of it being a pretentious, obnoxious pile of crap. Plus, Dustin Hoffman's 'do alone is worth the ticket price.

This is the new David O. Russell film, right? I'm really looking forward to it. I think that Mr. O. Russell has greatly improved as a filmmaker and writer with each of his films after 'Spanking the Monkey'. (Check out his 'Flirting With Disaster' for an earlier, looser ensemble comedy.) Besides, the plot sounds like some Douglas Adams or Alan Rudolph conceit; and you really can't go wrong there.
