Thinking about Doctor Bob reading his post out loud with a Dublin accent is making me happy

Which kind of Dublin accent are you reading it in?  I'd be from the suburbs myself, so tending towards the slightly... eh... posher (in a Dublin sense) end of the spectrum, rather than the far more characterful Dublinese of the so-called working class areas.  You might know the latter from the film 'The Commitments'.  If you don't know the former, the latter'll do nicely.
Either way, knowing that somebody is even trying to imagine it makes me smile.  Which rather neatly ties this post back into the thread.

Oh, and I nearly forgot: tea and chocolate cake.

(If only I'd been more aware of the LPTJ covers thread at the time, you could have heard me doing 'Unbreak my heart' by Toni Braxton in my Dublin accent.  Next time, eh?)

Well, seeing as the only Dublin accent I've been, er, up close & familiar with is that of the boy (man?  he's 35, but it still sounds odd) who played none other than Outspan Foster, the latter would be it.  That'd be twice in two days that someone's mentioned 'The Commitments' in my general direction; very pleasant, very strange.

Shameful admission:  when I was in Dublin at the beginning of this year, I asked people for directions just to hear them talk.

Entirely lacking in knowledge of what a Dubliner should sound like, all I could think of is Groundskeeper Willie singing that song (which is even more incorrect and bizarre).

Unfortunately, my main experience with the Irish is their delicious, delicious cheese. Which is sad, because apparently I have errant ancestors from the Belfast area.

Also, I second the mention of Toni Braxton's bodacious tatas.

Man, what is it with you guys and Anthony Braxton's tatas? I think he's contributed a lot more to music than simply tatas.

Back OT, I've recorded and mixed something at home in the last two evenings that is the best thing I've recorded yet, sound-wise.  I'm starting to know what I'm doing and I'm happy about that.

I'll tell you what's making me severely unhappy right now: Class starts in five minutes, I'm twenty minutes away, and I can't find my fucking keys. This is the second workshop I've missed this week. GREAT

Aw, leave it to ol' Devil Chicken to RAIN ON EVERYBODY'S PARADE

WE GET IT MILES, YOU HATE EVERYTHING

(I am sorry that you can't find yr keys.  Perhaps you have found them already.  I will keep my fingers crossed.)

What is making me happy today is the fact that I am going to get a tattoo in seven hours, and also that I pulled out all the records I own that Tom Barnes sings on (3 Engine 88, 1 Sordid Humor) and am in the midst of re-falling in love with them all over again.  Especially Sordid Humor.  Fucking "Barbarossa," dudes.  Best lyrics, best song ever.

And I finally ordered LPTJ Does Their Favorites.
And I found out that I'm going to see The New Pornographers/Destroyer/Immaculate Machine tomorrow for free.
And it's Thursday.

The end.

Just talked to that insufferable grad student that heads the workshop. There goes a third of my grade! Yay!

a pretty girl just sent me an email telling me she really liked my music.  i don't even really know her; i just vaguely remember her as the girl that was on stage before me, right before my band played (in my opinion) one of our worst sets yet.  she apparently really enjoyed my fit of anger and the way i nearly destroyed my gear.  go fig.

i just had a really miserable night weighing my future options as a college student and frantically trying to finish a paper that's due, um, today.  it's funny what wonders a little note from a pretty girl will do for your mood.  i almost don't care that i'm stuck here an extra semester.

almost.

Woot! Nothing gets a jones runnin' hot like a girl who digs your music. Awesome, dude. I feel you on the paper, as I just finished... 20 minutes ago... a big one myself. And I got an e-mail from a pretty lady as well, though it wasn't about digging my music; Steph was just ordering the Last Plane cds.

Question: What does one do if one loses the only copy of the key that starts one's car?

call a smith.  a taxi, if you're in a hurry.  and if you're not...

i don't remember exactly what it's called, but there should be a rather long number in very small print on yr car's windshield.  i think it should be around the lower left corner.  write that number down, and take it to the nearest (*car manufacturer name here*) dealer/service center.  the parts guy - most of those places should have a parts guy - can actually make you a copy of the requested key for about $5.00 or so with that number.  I think they legally have to ask you for your id and registration, but they never asked me.  Probably didn't get paid enough to care.

of course, i could be wrong.  but i used to have a bad habit of locking my keys inside my car, and i had to do this several times with a chevy dealer.  so.  probably best to call and ask ahead of time.

[ edit: also, i think they should be able to do it in shop.  every single time they were able to produce the key in about 10, 15 minutes. ]
