making me happy right now?  hmmm...

1.  I am going to marry a man who I stalked for 4 months before he finally got over his crush on my friend and realized where the real love is.   four and a half years later I find myself stalking him still (of course it's a  lot easier now).

2. I quit Blockbuster Video!!!!   Fuck those assholes, I'm FREE!

1) AHHHHH, that's a cute little tale. If a little scary, does he leave post it notes around saying "I'll be passing by the ironmongers at 3pm and if you hide in the hedge by the lollipopman then you should be able to take pictures of me".

2) Yeah fuck blockbusters, they smell.

1) No, but we oughta try that.  She is a rather good photographer.  And it'll be funny flipping through the photo album later on..."Hun, when did you get this shot of me?"

2) Yeah, but they rented us free movies.  All it cost us was her soul.

eh, no, it's more like I played the whole "We'll just be friends" game and I hung out with him a lot till I couldn't take it anymore...  None of his friends were surprised that we were going out, they saw it coming--lucky for me they didn't tell him and it happened in a timely fashion.

But it would have been cool if the proposal would have been like "hey, I'm going to be walking in city park, I'll drop something in the trashcan and if you find it, i'll marry you."

cooking while drinking always makes me feel uniquely connected to the human experience.  My pot pie is simmering, and my soul is glowing.

Hells yes, Greg. There really is nothing like cooking while drinking. And it's kinda unique for me, because I am a cook by proffesion currently... and I certainly can't drink at the restaraunt while I cook, though often I'd like to. So when I cook at home, and I have a Heineken and I'm grilling, I feel awesome.

Yes, yes, yes.  I'm glad I'm not the only one.  I've been meaning to ask:  at what kind of restaurant do you work?  What's your role in the kitchen?

Some of my pot pie, that's what.  You need to come to NYC, pollo.

Might I add:

SEA SALT MAKES EVERY DISH MY BITCH.  Can I get a Maine-based "what what" for the Stonewall Kitchen, rockme?

tonight i hung out with jojo and shaggy and kyle at their house (sometimes also referred to as "eric's house", but in reality a lot of my friends live there, and eric is on tour right now, so calling it eric's house would be kinda rude under the circumstances, i think), and we made fucking awesome huevos rancheros--aka all of us went shopping for the ingredients together and then jojo did all the cooking because it was her recipe. then we rented "mighty aphrodite", which was really good too. and i finished the extensive debugging process on jojo's computer that i started yesterday, and now it runs way better and has a sane amount of processes running on startup (instead of 50 like it had the day before yesterday).

so yeah, tonight made me really happy.

1. Being in Omaha along with a lot of the rest of the Omaha "family"
2. Built to Spill
3. Sleater-Kinney
4. Kitties that are as affectionate to me as they are to the people that they live with
5. Having so many people that want to see me that I have to actually schedule things and write down times to see people
6. Feeling like I know everybody in the whole town instead of feeling like I don't know anybody at all
7. Getting jumped on to wake up in the morning
8. Did I mention kitties?
9. The one cat that scowls at me despite how affectionate the other two are and generally finds their behavior disgusting. (He's a bitter old queen.)
10. Big beds with down comforters.

ah, diesel_powered, you reminded me that i totally forgot to mention jojo's new kitten. eric gave him to her for her 21st birthday. he's like 2 months old and adorable. his name's rudy (which is kind of a joke, because around that house they call smoking weed "talking to rudy"). last night while i was fixing jojo's computer, rudy kept biting my bare feet. it kinda hurt and it definitely made me jump every time but was still cute as hell.

when he wasn't doing that he was doing laps around the room like he was on crank.

WHAT-WHAT!!!!!! WOOT!

Now on to business... it's a nice seafood & italian place... I know that sounds like a bit of strange, but it's kinda impossible to have a nice restauraunt in Maine and NOT serve seafood. That's why the tourists come.
I'm a cook. I cook things. Such as the above stated seafood and italian dishes. I make a mean scampi sauce, fucking MEAN.

Sea-salt, hells yes.

Dude, you grifting internet? 'Cause that's a good feeling. I did that all summer, and it leaves one feeling so sinister and warm inside. Like getting free cable.

well, blake, there's a significant amount of italian cooking that incorporates seafood, though i'd imagine it's a completely different kind of seafood than you get up there in maine. after all, the coast of the mediterranean is in a totally different climate, and therefore would have way different fauna.

but either way, i don't find the concept weird.

Smile Well, I don't either... I was just pre-empting any possible qualms. Like, when I told my family back in Utah about it, they were mildly puzzled for a short spell... but then, they live in the bloody desert.
