Annoyed because I just had the major stress dream (it changes every time but always involves tons of fucked up snake/sparking electrical wire hybrids and bad things happening to my teeth) and this time it was extra bad because in addition to the snakes being evil and people I love pulling out my teeth with pliers and bits of tooth breaking off in my gums, it also involved about 500 wild dogs all trying to kill me and my family, and I wouldn't be so annoyed except I have *no* idea what on earth I've got to be so stressed about.

Seriously.

It's like when you know you've forgotten to do something, but you've no idea what it is.

Canadian sci-fi/fantasy author Jim Munroe just web-published a comic-book prequel to one of his novels.

It's annoying me only because I had been one of the candidates to be the illustrator, and I did not get the job.

I blame myself, for drawing more cartoony and less sexy.  

And I blame Todd MacFarlane, since whenever something bad happens in comics, Todd MacFarlane is also usually to blame, somehow.

Aw, thanks, guys.  But the artist he chose is obviously pretty talented, and I guess closer to what Mr. Munroe had in mind.  

The upside to all this is that it's renewing my determination to draw more sketches from real-life objects, so that I can pull out more effective "realism" when it's called for.

I wanna say sure, but in all likelihood, probably not, as I'm trying to buckle down and work harder on my own comic-writing.  I already passed up the chance to illustrate jordan's comic, and from what I read of the script, it was pretty fantastic.

Speaking of which:  jordan, is the whole thing done yet?  The beginning was fairly kick-ass; I'd like to see how it turned out.

* My brother's car broke down this morning, so the money my parents were going to lend me to get mine fixed is now going to be straight-up given to him.

* I am car-less for the indefinite future.

* This has forced me to whinge and scrape and beg some of my e-friends for money none of them have, because my two-turn 15-minute commute turns into 3 bus transfers totaling about an hour PLUS a 20-minute walk when I don't have a car.  It makes me want to die asking anyone for anything.  I've walked two miles with $1.50 in my pocket because I just couldn't bring myself to ask someone for a quarter so I could take the bus.  I hate getting presents and I hate it when anyone does anything nice for me, ever.  I always feel ungrateful.  So this is the lowest of the low.  The lowest I've been in as long as I can remember.  And it's not really doing wonders for feeling like I deserve to walk the earth.  Nor do I expect anyone will actually lend me any money because HI, IT'S CHRISTMASTIME.  /goth-teen

* Didn't see everyone's well-wishes at the bottom of the last page 'til just now.  Thanks, y'all.    He actually called me on Saturday night -- he always *67s and rings from a blocked number, knowing I always pick those up because a couple of my homies have unlisted #s -- and cried and whined that breaking up with me was the worst mistake he ever made, blah blah blah..  Total bullshit from a total douchebad.  Andrew, yes, if you ever want to go aggro on someone in yr city, please put him right at the top of the list.  Fucking annoying bastard, he is.  Sigh.

So, like, if anyone wants to lend me $300 or some frequent flier miles so I can fly someplace moderately warm (San Francisco!) and get my head straight, y'know.  Feel free.

Okay, so I come home from work this morning, and there's a brand new Hi-8 just sitting on the living room coffee table. I'm all, "Fuckin' A, a new camera. I think I shall commence to playing with it." And I pick it up and start messin' with the zoom and all, and I notice there's a tape in it. So I flip out the viewfinder and hit play 'cause I wanted to see if I risked taping over anything... and there was fuckin on it. I shut it down with the quickness and felt really bad that I'd, y'know, seen my best friend and his girlfriend all in the midst of makin love, but here's a question for the ethicists in the room: is it my fault that I saw them making the beast with two backs? Or would the blame fall on them for leaving such a neat toy out in the open with private stuff all up on it? Because man, that was not how I wanted to cap my morning off.

hmmm. not entirely their fault, but somewhat. comes under the heading of "if you really didn't want that to happen, you should have taken more precautions." the argument that you shouldn't have picked it up and watched what was on it only holds but so much water in the situation.

i guess my answer is "sort of your fault, sort of not".
