So.
I had a fairly (in my mind) incredible date with a boy on Friday night, and it ended with a lot of smooching in the car, and HE STARTED IT, and I'm all "that went well," and he was all "we should do this again soon," and that was, like, verbatim, and (I was very fond of saying this for the past three days) as he was the first person who had not recoiled upon me kissing him in the past six months I was rather proud of this and several self-esteem points higher on the Self Esteem Scale or whatever...

...and I just got a return email from him that ended with "but ultimately I don't think that we had the right kind of chemistry."

THEN STOP ACTING LIKE WE DO.
And the moral of the story? Lying at the time to spare another person's feelings and kissing someone if you really don't feel like it is about the suckiest thing you can do.

AND? Making someone feel like a plot point in Sex And The City is about the second suckiest thing you can do.  not that I would know what those are like.

I have three tests to take tomorrow. French, US History, and fucking Chem. WTF.

All this before Thanksgiving break.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE ADAMS PRESIDENCY. I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE JACKSONIAN ERA. WTF NULLIFICATION.

Never going to get into college, etc.

Ok, well, I don't. And apparently I studied it a few weeks ago. I think it may have had something to do with state government power and John C. Calhoun.

I am annoyed at how fucking huge "The South" is.  When I read people's locations, I think, "Georgia... Virginia... cool, they're below the Mason-Dixon, they're right near each other."  Then I MapQuest the locations, hoping I might be able to meet up with some of y'all tomorrow, when I'll be in N.C. for a funeral, and I find out that it'd be hours and hours of driving to see anyone.

Also, I'm annoyed at how many people have been dying lately.

Everyone goes home in October.

And yeah, the South is like that.  What is it, like six hours up to NC from GA?  Yeah.  If it was any closer, I'd no doubt be up there every weekend.

From Nags Head (where I'll be) to Conyers, Mapquest tells me it's ten hours.  My tiny New Hampshire brain cannot deal with this kind of scale.

Ha!  I could indeed, but having done it once, I felt it was too creepy to do it again, lest I cross the line from "friendly" to "stalky".

I have!  My great-uncle has a house there, so my family used to stay there for a week or two per summer when I was young.  I have fond memories of the sand dunes and the big waves and the towns named after waterfowl.

Nags Head is awesome. Jockey's Ridge (the giant-ass dune) rocks.

Yes!  Yes!  I used to run up Jockey's Ridge and tumble down it and burrow!  And then have to dump half a pound of sand out of each sneaker, upon returning home.

Well damnit.  How long are you gonna be down here?  I can't really go anywhere, as I'm working Wed. through Sunday (incl. Thanksgiving Day.  But I'm doing sound for a play, so it's not like I'll be jockeying a cash register or nothin).

The whole peninsula is awesome. And I've stayed in Duck before. Also Waves, Avon, Hatteras Village, Frisco, and on Ocracoke once or twice.

yes!!!  my family used to have a family reunion in nags head every other year, and i vividly remember watching a sunrise on jockey's ridge, and multiple fudgery locations, and pirate themed mini-golf. we haven't been since my grandparents died, but we're going to try it again next summer. i can't wait.

Should I get time, I will do so, though I just received word from the parents that there's to be an extended post-memorial-service family dinner.  So it looks like my evening's full-up.  Thanks for the offer, though.

edit:  I'm leaving for the North again on Wednesday morning, in order to have time to do more cooking and travelling to New England for Thanksgiving.  But I swear, you Southerners, I WILL RETURN.
