Also: ex-lion tamer said, "It kinda sounds like Savatage got really into video games."

I fucking love this album.  So will I like Savatage?  Can anyone recommend an album of theirs?  Can anyone upload a good YSI?

So Jim alerted me to the fact that Act II came out, and I got it in mp3 format last night, listening to it today.  I really like it.  It's all about Dr. Light, and it's fucking great.

I'm really, really not trying to be an asshole here, but I'm curious, having heard the first album the other day:  is this all about the narrative and Mega Man concept?  Because the music seemed far-beyond-rationalization terrible to me.

Not to say that music can't be enjoyed purely for lyrics and concept, because yes it can, but does anyone actually like the music part of this band?

Ok so what about it?

edit: because seriously, I don't think coldforge was able to articulate what he liked about it when he played it for me, and dude can expound on anything.

I am actually really interested in what people like about the musical part of this band.  If anyone's got something to say about that please speak up.  Again: not being an asshole, just wondering if I'm missing something.

Perhaps the Megaman predisposed me toward liking them, but i like their mishmash of styles, "Unrest in the House of Light" is really great, also I do have a tendency to like a pretty ridiculous amount of bombast and I grew up in the era of arena rock.  There are some fun moments in the first album when they throw in some 8-bit stuff in the midst of a Meatloaf-style rock epic (See "The Stand" from Act I) and the juxtaposition is ridiculous and wonderful, I'll fully admit that there's probably more than just the music going into my enjoyment of this, it seems to tap so much of the pop culture a gaming nerd would have been exposed to.

I think maybe you just hate fun though.
