Is anybody else as excited as I am for this movie? I am so obsessed with Wes Anderson films, and this one looks like it will surely be another instant classic. Check out the website, it's so rad.

I also love how "Starman" is in the trailer. It's definitely one of the most underrated songs on Ziggy Stardust.

Hey, does anyone recognize any of the other songs in the trailer? They all sound super familiar, but I can't quite put my finger on any of them.
Also, what are everyone's favorite songs from Wes Anderson movies? Personally, I like "These Days" by Nico (Royal Tenenbaums), "Making Time" by Creation and "Ooh La La" by the Faces (Rushmore).
The use of "Needle In The Hay" is pretty damn spooky too.

The one Calexico covered--what was it called? It was in Rushmore (the original version on the song). Oh yeah, "Alone again or", that was a great one.

"A Quick One While He's Away" from Rushmore
J-tron, the songs from the trailer are...
Devo - Gut Feeling
New Order - Ceremony
David Bowie - Queen Bitch
Seu Jorge - Starman
David Bowie - Starman

i didn't know calexico covered "alone again or". i got into the original version and by extension into the band love because the damned covered that song in 1986. haha.
my favorite song out of any wes anderson movie that i've seen is "making time" by the creation. that's just one of my favorite songs ever.

Thanks trailofmusic. I can't believe I didn't recognize 'Queen Bitch.' I really need to get off my ass and pick up Hunky Dory.
I wonder if there will be any more David Bowie songs in the film. That would be so rad.

christmas day is a pretty common opening day for winter release movies. Christmas is a surprisingly busy movie day. a lot of families (and non-christians) go to movies on this day.

Yeah, but I still think a new Wes Anderson movie is the best Christmas present I could ask for. Well, that or the Velvet Underground box set.

i don't wanna be a downer in this thread, but i'm not as excited for this movie. i was a huge fan of bottle rocket and rushmore, but i thought royal tennenbaums (while still a great movie) was a fairly disappointing follow-up. it was to broad in scope and so the characters suffered a loss of those individual subtleties that made rushmore and bottle rocket so quietly hilarious for me.
anyways, i love wes anderson, and will definitley see this movie, but the trailer looks pretty "gag"-intensive. i'm hoping this is just a poor trailer cut and not a representation of the movie, but it just looks like wes is moving away from the drama and conflict seen in bottle rocket and rushmore, and more towards straight-up goofy (but still smart, and still funny) comedies. i hope this isn't the case, but i miss the old wes.

terra, your criticism as is soft as a pillow. naturally, i love bottlerocket.
but i think the sheer vision of the tennenbaums from the saturated color of the movie, to the dialogue.. is genius.

Yeah,
Tennenbaums
is my favourite Wes Anderson movie, and up there as one of my favourites of all-time.

I agree, even though I love a lot the trailer, I've gotten better at seperating ads with the movies. Think about how hard it is to "sell" movies like Anderson's. They're just trying to fill seats by getting people in who will respond to slapstick and quickly-edited-commercial-friendly-dialogue-exchangeslike they did with I Heart Huckabees. The bottom line is that I'm psychic and this movie will make us happy

hahahah or what about the tv commercials for the eternal sunshine of the spotless mind dvd, which called it "eternal sunshine" and made it look like a slapstick jim carrey vehicle? you can't let that shit get to you man. this is why i quit watching reading or listening to any preview materials about any movies i was actually interested in seeing around 1997 or so.

All I know about the trailer is that Willam Defoe's charactor looks hilarious, and that the way the two Bowie songs transition into each other is super rad.
I wish they would have included more of Jeff Goldblum's charactor though. I've been a big fan ever since the Fly.
