On publicizing a blog

So I, like pretty much everyone else on the internet, have a place where I put columns and reviews and thinkpieces and the like about music. But, I don't really know how to go about getting people to read it. What channels exist for getting the right people to read this stuff, short of ingratiating oneself into every forum and message board they can find?

you could start by making it the signature on this message board. also, if other people's blogs contain the ability to comment, you can do that and perhaps subtlymention "i wrote about a similar article in my blog..." heh. don't get me wrong. not spamming, SHARING. also, sites like livejournal allow you to add "friends" so for example when i open it, i can see all the thiings my friends wrote (including music blogs etc)

if you're thinking large scale...there's always banner ads.

thats the short version. It really comes down to posting quality stuff. if you do that, and stick with it, the readership will come.
