Oh man, I don't even want to try to estimate how many episodes of the Simpsons I've watched over the years.  Most weekdays I watch it twice, sometimes three times in syndication.  It's been that way since i was 13?  14?

No dude! I mean, I always imagined that line to mean "I am a champion-level sleeper"

If you listen to his inflection, it makes more sense that way: his emphasis  is on "that's" and "I'm", not on "viking"

we can do it both ways too:

It makes perfect sense to me for someone to say: "Sleep! That's where I'm an astronaut," or "In my dreams I'm a King of Kings," or something.

See, in the sentence I don't think it's the word sleep that's interchangeable, but the word viking definitely is.

Sleep! That's where I'm a leper!
Sleep! That's where I'm a Nascar driver!
Sleep! That's where I'm allergic to nuts!
Sleep! That's where I'm a viking!

i have gotten desperate and have considered asking conan since i think he was a writer there for season 3.  that would be dumb.... so tempted.  

would ask the av club call david cohen?

but shows are generally done in writer's rooms and then one person takes off to finish a script and another finishes the next.  it's not usually a bunch of separate people writing totally alone.  

yes, it is a dumb idea though, i already said that.
