Oh my god, Jacob's brother has put up a photo blog devoted to his teeny son and it is just the cutest thing I've ever seen. I feel weird linking to it, sorry, but oh my god.
Someone steal a baby for me and give it to me for a little while, thanks.

If you stopped in a convenience store on the way home to get some water and the guy said, "You look fresh", what would you think that meant? (He also said, "See you tomorrow", so I'm thinking he just thinks I'm someone else.)

Does anyone else have this thing where their veins get really big sometimes and then just disappear? The veins on the back of my hand were *huge* this morning and now they're just little blue lines without any kind of three-dimensional topographical properties. I feel like I might get stretchmarks just from my veins getting big and bulgy and then disappearing. Then again, it is now only 34 degrees in my office whereas, a few hours ago, it was more like 36...

Had you just had breakfast when they got huge? Maybe your body was pumping all the nutrients around, and needed bigger bloodways to do so.

I am pretty awesome with kids, so I offer to babysit anytime you and Mindy want a night off.
Plus, your kids seem pretty awesome.

Nah... thinking about it... it's probably just the heat and my body's inept attempts to stay cool.
It's 100+ degrees fahrenheit here every day this week - way too hot to eat anything that would require bigger... bloodways. Which is an awesome word that I have never heard before but am going to use again.

I haven't been able to stay asleep for more than two hours in the past week. Every two hours I wake up and am too wired to sleep.
It's starting to make it very difficult to get anything done!

I will happily take you up on that except I'm not sure how trustworthy I am because I just like to look at the baby and then speak in a deep and awkward monotone at it. Incidentally, this is also how I interact with grown humans with whom I am not familiar. But if you're all right with me talking like Darth Vader at li'l Ian (minus the panting), then yeah!

See what you're supposed to do with a baby is smile at the baby like an idiot until the baby smiles back. Then you clean up the poop.

Yeah, that'll make you miserable about as quick as anything. The worst is when you can't sleep but you're too tired to focus and accomplish or even relax and enjoy anything. Hope you get over this soon, Beth. In my experience, this sort of insomnia usually doesn't last for more than a week. Eventually your body gets too tired and you get some good sleep.

Speaking of poop, and here's some randomness for you, does anyone know about the Gosselins? They're a family in PA (I think) who have one set of twins and one set of sextuplets (THAT IS SIX BABIES YOU GUYS). Anyway, they have a show on Discovery Health and I watch it because let's face it, a) I watch too much TV and b) I love babies. But then I found a clip of the mom making the baby/toddler/whatever pose with its First Poop In The Potty and um, I hope I don't become that sort of mom.
That's all, folks.

This doesn't necessarily relate to your post, hm, but I hate that middle-class (or upper-class) white families with tons of kids are always put on TV and glorified, like it's totally ok for them to have 20 kids just 'cause they're white and not poor. I never see huge black families on TV, and the common idea about poor people is that they need to stop having so many children. Overpopulation is a huge problem in the world, so why is our media rewarding people who feel the need to make a whole suburb with their genes, just as long as they're white and not poor?
Meh. It's just something that really bothers me every time I see it. I can see why a story about people with sextuplets might be interesting, 'cause that's some crazy stuff, right there. I would probably kill myself if I found out that there were SIX BABIES growing inside of me at one time.

I hear you morgan. I think that perhaps "congratulations" is the wrong word to use when someone is like "I'm having six babies"

If yer white and middle class, it's a miracle. If yer black and poor, it's welfare fraud.

Morgan, I agree with you 100%. I mean, the only family I can think of is that crazy family, the Duggers? The lady has like 17 kids and is pregnant with another, I think. LESS SEX PEOPLE JESUS WOULD WANT YOU TO HAVE LESS SEX
(the particular family I wrote about only has their own tv show because yeah, two sets of multiples? so weird.)
(also, I love babies but I think having more than 4, I'd say, is terrifying and maybe crazy, depending)

One of the condos in my mom's complex is going to be featured on HGTV. She's pretty excited about it.
