I'm going crazy here. Then we'll lose our first three games and I'll go back to not caring.

See, I'm way more excited about ND when we have zero expectations than when we're ranked top 5, because then I know we'll inevitably screw it up.
I'm rooting for Jones to get the nod. I'm not on the Clausen bandwagon quite yet. Redshirt the kid, start Jones, if he fucks up start Sharpley.
I like our chances against GA Tech, anyway, since they lost Johnson. Also I'm just glad to have a veteran defense for once Jesus Christ. I'd rather lose 14-0 than 49-21.
Your team's VA Tech, right?

Nah, they'll be bitches for the Sooners. And the Longhorns. And the Trojans. And maybe the Tigers.

Also GOD I can't wait for someone to beat Boise St.
Hawaii will do it for sure if no one does sooner.
Fuckers want to be taken seriously but they schedule a fucking BIG SKY Conference team for their non-conference game. Dicks.

i was actually referring to the redskins, my pro team. tech is my college team, but pro football is my first love.
i don't know what's up with tech as of right now. i'll have to ask brandon. he's the kind of dude who gets daily updates in his email or whatever.

well at least the Panthers are guaranteed not to be the worst team in the NFC South this season (haha @ falcons fans). still though, im getting grim visions of 7-9 D:

The 'Skers don't even play Oklahoma this year, lessin' it be in the Big 12 title game, but that's not happening as the Sooners will be 4th in the Big 12 South this year. Mark my words.

The year of the Lions being predicted to win more than 5 games and failing miserably?

slow west vultures to thread! I need someone as obsess with the ND QB controversy as I am.
NFC North hahaha I dunno. Year of Lions is a possibility since I become more and more convinced that the Bears are destined for last place if fucking Grossman is at the helm. When will NFL coached learn not to get their QBs from FLA?

What the Bears OUGHTA do is sign future rookie-of-the-year quarteback Zac Taylor. The kid's been underrated his whole life.

heh, i didn't even know who the other contenders were until you mentioned demetrius jones. i just hope clausen gets the start pretty soon because i'm looking forward to what that guy has to say to sports reporters in on the the field interviews or press conferences. i watched the us army high school football game and he struck me as kind of a dumb goofy kid who's gonna make plenty of comments a la matt hasselbeck c. 2004 NFL wilcard playoff game overtime coin-toss "we're gonna take the ball and we're gonna go score!" i haven't even heard anything about the other two guys. what makes demetrius jones a good pick in your eyes?
i'm a little more concerned with my fantasy draft at the moment. i'm wondering if i should go buy one of those fantasy football magazines or just reassure myself with the fact that the guy with the running back nobody's heard of who breaks out late in the season (like larry johnson in 2005) is probably going to come from last place to win the league again (its not a very competitive league. anybody got some fantasy football draft strategies they want to share?
also dieblucasdie you should check out my review of Knute Rockne:All-American in the movie thread. i wish i had seen that movie before i went to nd. it would have been way more funny to reference.

couple comments, question - could not agree more with the Boise St. comments above - I was mortified that Oklahoma lost that game.
All I want for Christmas is for Lou Holtz to get back into coaching and off of ESPN, although to be fair Mark May is nearly as bad. I never ever thought I would miss Trev Alberts, but here we are....
I'm wondering if there is an investigation into the Reggie Bush deal with his parents.....If OU can lose an entire season because the QB takes home 150.00 beer money a week from a no show job, what's going to happen to USC when Regie's parents lived like Rock Stars for 2 years?? Also I loathe Pete Carroll.
Finally, D1 college athletes should be paid something, period.

I've just got this old-school aversion to starting a true freshman. Also, I've been burned by the new-hyped-ND-QB too many times and I'm reluctant to join in on the Clausen lovefest right off the bat.
And I was excited about Jones when they recruited him last year. He's from Chicago, he's really athletic. He just seems to me like the anti-Brady Quinn, which is what I want at this point.
Also I think if Clausen really IS the QB of the future, then it still makes sense to redshirt him and let him spend a year learning the system instead of wasting a year of eligibility on a season where we're basically replacing our entire offense except Carlson.
Which reminds me, I am terrified by the thought of Travis Thomas as our starting RB. Egads.

The Packers are looking fairly good this year, if Favre can hold it together and not throw a million interceptions.
