All right!

Dhlagren is boring me.  I'm about a quarter of the way through it, now.  It's just kind of... not that interesting.  I wish I'd read this when I was thirteen or so.

Maybe I'll go back to Wodehouse after this, clear the palate or some such.  Or that Chinatown Poison Knows Us By The Trail Of The Detective thing that Andrew recommended.  Andrew, is that book exciting?  Will it make my pulse pound and my pores open?

yeah, if you like pulp stuff. it's really quite good as crime novels go. and lots of funny stuff about the authors it focuses on, too.

Well, all right, then.  I'll try to pick that up once I'm finished with The Insatiable Pulsing Cock of Anarchism.

I'm really digging into Michael Moorcock's Jerry Cornelius books right now - I picked up that collection that has all four books together. They're absolutely hilarious and badassed, and read like postmodern parodies of Bond/Avengers type stuff even though they were written at the same time as those.

The most compelling parts of that novel are the bits wherein the Kid discusses poetry with what's his face, the old Robert Frost stand in

Since I'm already so clearly a fan of this Pulsating Cock of Anarchy, I guess there's no need for me to weigh in, except to suggest that you avoid at all costs such semi-comparable Delany works as the boy-raping Hogg or scat-wallowing The Mad Man.

But even if you hate Dhalgren, I still highly recommend his nonfiction.

Yeah, I was wondering if he'd written an autobiography; it seems like that would be way more interesting than all this Bellona mumbo-jumbo.

Today, thanks to Hannah's recommendation, I am reading and loving James Schuyler's Alfred and Guinevere. I have a total thing for novels told in children's voices that are NOT cute, and I can't believe I didn't read this sooner. Thanks Hh!

Reading Ira Glass's New Kings of Non-fiction collection that came out recently. Interesting stories. Haven't read the David Foster Wallace one yet but looking forward to it.
