And really I'm sorry if it seems like I've ever discounted someone's loneliness or depression; it's not that I don't empathize, it's just that I'm usually not looking to spend my time on the internet reading 500 word posts from someone that wishes they were getting laid. Does that make me an asshole?
Not at all.
I mean, I'm not usually looking to spend my time on the internet reading 500 word posts from someone that wishes their team had won last night's football game. I don't think that makes me an asshole.
Of course, that's also why I steer clear of threads and forums that are very obviously dedicated to talking about football. And so I've never felt the need to write posts that let everyone know how much I don't want to spend my time reading about football *and* that let all those other people know how dumb I think they are for writing about football in a thread marked 'football'.
Y'know... I just... don't read those threads.

So anyways... back to your original post... my flatmate just reminded me that he's gonna be in the UK for the next 5 days, which means it'll just be me and the guitars. And instead of thinking "cool - now I can stay up until 4am doing awesome living alone stuff without interruption", my initial thought was "cool - now I can throw out his expired fridge food and scrub the stove top and clean the bathroom floor without interruption!"
Admittedly, the only awesome living alone stuff that I don't do already when he's here is 'being nekkid in the shared living spaces' and, frankly, it's too cold for that sort of thing. But still... throwing out the flatmate's empty brown paper bags that are growing damp and moldy on the walls of the fridge should not be a task one anticipates with something approaching enjoyment...

Haha yeah, I did the cleaning thing yesterday. The kitchen is especially maddening to clean when D's here because the moment I get it clean she has to cook something and she's one of those people who is an excellent cook but absolutely will not clean stuff up as she goes along.
