Anyone who doesn't get the joke:

If you run Windows, run your windows Calculator program (in your Accessories menu) and make sure it's in Scientific view (View | Scientific).  Notice that you have 4 different number systems on the left just under the number display: hexadecimal (hex) or base-16; decimal (dec) or base-10; octal (oct) or base-8; and binary (bin) or base-2.  Your calculator will be set to decimal by default 'cause that's what we all use and think in.  Type in 25.  Now click Oct to switch to octal.  The display changes to 31.  Base-8 means there are only 8 digits in use in the system, 0-7, so the octal value 10 actually denotes the value 8 in decimal.  oct 30 then is equivalent to the value 24 in decimal and thus oct 31 is the same as dec 25.

The joke is hilarious if you are a giant nerd.
