I had some green curry last night. It was pretty good--I think it's my favorite of the thai curries (there are like 5, red, green, yellow, mussamun, and panang). Split the curry, basil chicken, larb kai and some beers (including some of my homebrews) with some (new) buddies. Good times.
edit: also, hi Mary! how ya doin?

Let me tell you about this thing I ate
It was a taco de los ojos y sesos
That's an eyeball taco
Here are some shots of Damian and I sharing the taco
Here is a blurry shot of the taco itself.
It was... interesting.

You see, I'd eat brain and tongue in a snap before eyes.

Tongue is a recognised delicacy, but baked brains is a good folk classic as well.
You could put some raisins in as well.

When I was a kid, I used to love eating fish eyeballs. I don't really know why. But if my mum was grilling four for the family, I would get to eat all the eyeballs. I can't even remember what it tastes like.
Last night, I had dinner with some friends and was served a whole fish so I guess I had the opportunity to try it, but I did not.
In addition to the delicious fish, I was introduced to this weird Italian-style hummus, which is just chick pea flour and an insane amount of black pepper. It was pretty much the best thing ever spread on crisp toast. I'm going to try making it at home this week.

I'd try whatever weird tacos generally, but the ones made of brains scare me a little bit because of the whole mad cow /prions thing.

jeb, sorry dude, but somebody else posted a video they took that contained a shot of Damian biting into the eyeball taco. He takes a big bite and a little piece of eyeball pops out the side of the taco. It is totally awesome.
Mindy got a little uncomfortable yesterday when Damian was bragging about eating an eyeball taco to her vegetarian friends though.
I've had tongue tacos before but never brain. I hadn't thought about that jess but that is a good point. Still I'd like to try it though.
After the eyeball taco Damian and I split a gigantic Oaxacan tamale. It was amazing.

I used to claim I wouldn't eat tacos at a place that didn't serve at least brain or tongue tacos, but I have never seen tacos de ojos. That's crazy. I ate some of a brain taco once in 8th grade. Didn't need to do it again. But if they have brain, see, they probably have barbacoa and other things that are super tasty.

Eyeball-eating footage at 1:49 or so. Mindy and Ian are in the background.

There's also a picture of one of those Oaxacan tamales in there somewhere but I don't know that it does justice to the size of the thing. It basically covers about 90% of a standard-sized paper plate.

I've eaten brain before! It's not bad. It tastes a lot like regular ground beef. The texture is somewhere between ground beef and scrambled eggs, which is kinda weird, but alright.

My friend makes something that is like enchiladas but is different. It is delicious and invovles pouring half and half over the pan full of enchilada-like thing. Very delicious.
