I just returned a little bit ago from having a late lunch at that crazy hot dog joint and some shopping with Almanzo.  Food was awesome (a ribeye hot dog?  WTF? Delicious.) and the shopping involved me getting mostly some christmas presents, but also as I noted elsewhere, a violin bow.  So I think that was a very successful expedition.  And easier on the wallet than I would've expected.

today is my favorite holiday of the year! Christmas Preview Extravaganza! Our three-year tradition.

My sisters and their closest friends who I have known forever and my closest friends all gather to bake an unheard of amount of cookies while listening to christmas music, watching movies, playing board games, and generally giggling about how awesome we are.

...THERE IS ALSO A SECRET SANTA. I am so pumped. I only got 3 hours of sleep and I am still pumped! Hurrah for friends!

that sounds super fun, beth.

my new drill battery finally arrived!  as soon as this puppy is charged up there is going to be an awful lot of drilling going on around here.

It's snowing. I'm not planning on going outside today, so I can enjoy how pretty it looks without getting frozen. But I am going next door for dinner with my kickass neighbours who have said they are going to do what I guess is a bit like Beth's Christmas preview, except it is not traditional because this will be the first time we've had dinner together instead of tea and cake. Though I do expect to leave with some cake too. I should probably go make some cake for them too.

Yesterday a couple of my bandmates came round to my house for our first time working on vocal harmonies and, in addition to it being ace to hang out with them in a more relaxed atmosphere than the rehearsal room (where I am usually all "Parade Float Now!" on everyone's asses), we got some fun stuff figured out - they both have such lovely voices and both very different to mine. We recorded five songs with the new vocal parts and this morning I've been listening back to those recordings plus the ones I made when I played with our violinist last week. It's all sounding super sweet and I am excited and happy about putting it all together, although we're not going to get everyone in the same room until January now.

And I'm looking forward to going back to London next weekend and seeing my family and my friends... and even looking forward to seeing London itself, which is a change. In short, life is good.

Dudes, two of the names I was first to nominate were the two runners-up for Name of the Year. I don't wish to elaborate beyond that, except: fuck yeah.

Fuck yes man!  Congrats!  I've got a ways to go but I took my last final of the semester today and kicked it square in the pants.  Straight A's so far this year!

I just got a raise! A big raise! And I moved from an hourly worker to a salaried position!

This year at work has been really stressful and hard to get through but this makes it totally worth it!

Also, congrats to all graduates and course completers.

I'm going to cook something and dedicate it to you, Blake. Eventually. I gotta finish all this chili first. Maybe peppercream steak.

For Christmas, I have two copies of Veganomicon. Boyfriend and best friend obviously need to get together to discuss what I am receiving, but thumbs up to both of them for picking up hints. Woo! I opened two Christmas packages today and I should have waited, but oh well.

Hey, congrats to all! I finally finished grading all of my final exams last night, so my 2007 workyear is officially over. And actually, since I'll be doing the severe-underemployment thing for the next few months, I really don't have much direct responsibility from now until March, which is sort of a good feeling, except that I still have a ton of unscheduled-but-necessary tasks that I tend to procrastinate on when my life becomes as unstructured as it now is. But fuck it, ha! ha! ha! happy! for now.

I had me birthday party last night which went waay better than my last party and I got a Ramones lunchbox, a live AC/DC CD and a poster AND fuckin' Mothership, which I was not expecting. Plus a bottle of wine. I also fractured my elbow I think, or at least fucked it up, and I just had a really good time. Yay on me.
