Yeah, so my particular gripe today has to do with the fact that I blew through $800 on a new clutch for my car last week. I took it in on Wednesday and they told me they wouldn't be able to get a clutch in until tomorrow. So I was overjoyed when they called and said that they would be able to finish the repairs on Friday. Everything got done ahead of schedule and I drove the five blocks back to my dad's place with my nice, new clutch where it sat for all day yesterday while I decided to take an extra day to hang out before heading back to Detroit today.

So apparently the 20% of coupon I used also included 20% less service on my car because just as I hit the highway home, I realized that my fucking speedometer was broken. Not only am I furious that the lazy assholes who serviced my car didn't catch this when they were fixing it (it was finished at 3, that left them a full three hours to double check their repairs) but I'm equally furious that I have to sit around for another day before taking it in and ripping them a new asshole tomorrow. In addition, I'm losing another day to put my shit back together. I'm losing another day to get to work. I'm losing another day of pay from work. And in return, I'm gaining another fucking day of stress added on due to the fact that I have a fucking show opening in two fucking weeks and I still have to meet with the people I'm collaborating with to figure out what the fuck we're going to do. I. Want. To. Cut. People.

See, there are a few issues with that argument (which I can't say I entirely disagree with):

1) I have a leaden foot. This has gotten me into lots of trouble in the past and as I've already proven myself totally incapable of not speeding, much like the alcoholic, I must appeal to a higher power to keep myself in line. Said higher power is the speedometer and cruise control.

2) The speedometer worked before I got it serviced. Then the speedometer didn't work after getting it serviced. It's the principle of the thing.

2 is fine, but it's not about always wanting to speed, because i do, it's about just not speeding when you don't have a clear view of what you're speeding into, cops & all.

also, i've found (w/ the help of those po-lice speed checkers) that i am more accurate than my speedometer when it comes to estimating speed. i'm off by 2-3, my speedo is off by 3-5, so fuck that shit.

I scheduled a phone interview with someone for an article I'm writing, and when I called she didn't pick up. Nor did she pick up a half-hour later. I was annoyed, but in the long run it might not matter. To be continued; or: the end.

I find this hard to believe.

Fuck! I had just meant to skim LPTJ briefly while a veggie burger cooked, but then I got all caught up in an emotional post about Lance Hahn and forgot the thing, which is now all black on one side. I'll probably eat it anyway, carcinogens be damned.

I'm really sick of being told that I can't use the elevators in the building in which I live just because some VIP assholes who apparently are too good to RIDE THE ELEVATOR WITH US MINIONS are using them.

Damn, I used to be one of the only people in the world who somehow entirely trust their postal service, but in December a birthday packaged destined to me was inexplicably returned to sender, a postcard from a lurker friend of mine never arrived, the Carl Wilson book which shipped on 12/11 from the US is still not here, and the Swell record I ordered in late December hasn't shown up either (though there's still hope for that one). I called them to complain, but they have basically no clue. Well, I suppose I was bound to get acquainted with that sort of problem!

In other annoying news, I must have slept three hours last night and am now going to try and probably fail to have a normal, productive day.

Yay for double charges on your debit card. Except instead of double charging me for $11.91, there's one charge for that amount and then a second charge of $111.91. THAT IS AWESOME.

So I assumed that today was the first day of the quarter, because it was the first Tuesday after New Years. It's always the first Tuesday after New Years. Not so this quarter! I missed three classes yesterday. Ooops.

 Shocked

If it makes you feel better, there's a restaurant here that's notorious for doing that and the second charge is usually reversed in 12 hours or less.

Yeah, it's those stupid handheld pin things where you type in the amount.. well, you know what I mean.

I called my bank and they said to wait until the charge is no longer pending and they'll remove it, but as it's still pending they can't do anything. I was going to wait until tomorrow to see if it's still there before I freak out.

I'm just happy that for *once* I actually had enough money in my account to not overdraft, even though it would've been fixed.

You know, for as petty as it may seem, whenever things get fucked up with my bank account and I have enough cash not to overdraft, I feel like I've accomplished a little bit with my life, financially.

Haha, not petty. I don't think it's so much that I've accomplished a lot financially, but moreso that I have been living off the gift cards I got for Christmas instead of spending money. Plus, I'm really trying to stick with my budget.
