No seals, no nudity, no apologies:

It was our christmas work dinner.  That's Barry and Peter feeling me up in the second picture.  I've no idea what I said in the first picture to make Eoin and Frank laugh, but I'll take the compliment.

I trim my bear so that it hugs my jawline.

I try to make it as non-slimming as possible, so people stop coming up to me in the street and offering me food.

I do stroke my beard about 16 hours a day, yes.

I stumbled upon this structure at work today and felt it was just about the funniest thing.
I was standing there, huge grin.

What I've done this year:

There were seals

Seal puppage

There was a hanging garden that no one could get to

not pictured: naked swimming in deep strong surf and getting caught by a drunk fat man who leered and licked his lips and WOULD NOT LEAVE, which was awkward cos we only had one towel to hide behind

that's not kaikoura is it?

One place in L.A. that I have little exposure to is the San Fernando Valley. So Gaby and I explored it, and one cool thing there was the Great Wall of Los Angeles, which runs along the edge of Valley College and might be the longest mural in the world (?). It traces the history of California from Indian creation myths through the Chicano Power movement. Some selections:

I can't see youtube at work, but if that's anything less than a Cherry Poppin' Daddies video, I'm going to be disappointed.

no offense to anyone, but the zoot suit riots were no laughing matter--actually a really intense case of racial discrimination that was at the time blamed on its chicano victims.
