you're probably right, but bending all that plywood would be a bitch.  beautiful, though.

You can look at a more or less step by step process of building shit like this on my flickr situation.

Basically, you frame followed by 2 layers of 1/2 inch plywood and final top layer of 1/4 inch solid marine birch. Bending wood isn't hard if you take grain direction into account along with cutting geometric shapes out of the ply that reduce stress/prevent buckling.

Check out our first two drop-in tests.

Looks like you've got a healthy amount of flat in that, there.  Most bowls around here are so cramped (not that I ride them anymore, but still).

Also, it's straight beautiful looking.

I just need to bump my request for help on a yin-yang knitting pattern.  I've found a really crappy one, but I'd really like one that's a little better.

I've nearly finished the Wheel of Time based shawl that I was commissioned to knit for a friend for her birthday.  Just fringe and then weaving in the ends.  Yay!
Edit: Done!

The yarn I was working with is great, and you can actually get it at Walmart.  My favorite part is that for the fringe, it actually looks better frayed, so you don't have to worry about that.  I just frayed it as I put it on.

So I got a booth for the Milledgeville fair this year for FREE to see if I can sell my stuff.  I'm having a few friends contribute as well since I didn't have enough warning to make enough things to fill a booth.  We're planning on printing up some little cards with contact info, and if things go well, we should make a bit of money and then hopefully get a couple custom X-mas orders as well.  If things don't go well, I'll just have to give the stuff I'm making with clearance yarn as X-mas gifts.  I'm excited about finally being able to give this a chance.

Edit: Also, if anyone has done anything like this before, please give pointers.

I couldn't find a neutral thread, but I figured this works here too.  Last night was the first night of the fair here, and I had my little table with my little knit goods.  I didn't sell anything, but there were like 5 people at the fair last night, so I'm not too stressed about it.  I figure Friday will be the big night.  Anyway, I did have a woman get one of my cards for custom orders, so I may hear from her, and the guy who does business profiles in the local paper stopped by and took a couple pictures and did a little interview with me.  He also gave me his contact info.  I've started up a little website via the MySpaces:
Creative Disorganization
So we'll see if anything comes of all this.

I interviewed this gentleman today

He's Clark Ashton, he's a metal sculptor who displays his work in his yard--what he calls The Commuter Gallery, since it's right off a busy street here in Decatur.  He invited me to climb up into this crows-nest contraption with him:

The Control Tower, which has a winch that he uses to "harvest souls from the chaos" of the morning commute.  I got to harvest souls today!  I am all-powerful!

His work is enormous and fascinating and I had a great time talking to him.  His website is http://thecommutergallery.org.

Is anyone else here on Ravelry?  I got my invitation not too long ago, and I've been exploring a bit.  It seems pretty cool.
