WHOA! I guess they'll just have to stick to regular foods like lobster and scallops and such.
Don't sweat it Nog, I have combed the relevant ahadeeth and found that Bukhari cites a tradition attributed to Zaid b. Thabit allowing the consumption of pork products if the resulting food is hilarious.

Looking at google image pictures of graham crackers, they look sorta like malt biscuits. Other things I never knew but heard of in Judy Blume novels
Kool Aid
Ayds (the diet candy- in the 80s ayds was synonymous with good health, yeah?)
Twinkies
High C (we call it 'raro')
Oreos (you can buy them here now, but only in the last seven years or so)
Teeter Totters (took me about ten years to realise this was just a seesaw. I couldnt wait to go to the land of opportunity and play on this fascinating mystery playground toy!)
I'm sure there are lots more, and that this is a conversation that we've had on here before, but why not get that retirement practice in now?

I think it was a real late 70s early 80s thing. I only read about it in books.

Wasn't Andrew in a band called the False Americans? Or was that someone else? Or did I imagine that entirely|?

I'm not sure if I should go to New York for a month. I really want to, and I'd even have a job there, but it's probably not wise. Continue discussing graham crackers. Thanks.

yeah, the cracker is a misnomer. file under cookie. dunking a whole package of graham crackers in milk late at night was part of my pharmaceutical cocktail for awhile, until i realized i can't really drink milk anymore. they're not really that great on their own, but dip them in milk and they become so so tasty and addictive.
Crush them up in a bowl and drown them in milk and let them get soggy as hell and eat that shit up!

awesome. judy blume, that great international ambassador of american teenage culture. i remember one of the girls in my classes when i studied abroad in australia was really psyched by the movie 'Bring It On' and wanted to be a cheerleader if she lived in america.
also this kind of struck me as funny too

I'm going up to the Bay Area next week to investigate a room in a house I want to stay in this summer and next year for graduate school. I guess the idea is to make sure I'm a good fit with the people? I've never done this before, and I'm kind of nervous. I think I'm competing with a couple other people for the room. I have a couple of other options but this is ideal price-wise, location-wise, and I would like it there according to a friend.
You're goddamn right I'm uncertain though. I hope I don't fuck up something somehow.

Ha, what's funny to me about that is that when I was 8, I went to Australia for a month (my dad's business is mostly with Australians, so I went a couple of times when I was young), and at some point, I picked up a couple of Judy Bloom books, but they had been adapted for Australian English. I remember having to sort out some things, like what "nappies" were (one the characters had a baby sister), etc.

We demand rigidly defined areas of doubt and uncertainty around here.

first day back to work since last monday (had tues off, went home sick weds, called in thurs & fri, had sat off) and getting sick. feeling better now, for the most part, still a little phlegmy but the cough is mostly gone (thank fuck) and the sinus stuff has mostly cleared up. still kinda wheezy when i breathe, but i'm sure it'll be cool. just a little anxious, for whatever stupid reason. OMGWHATIFIFORGOTHOWTODOMYJOB, that kind of thing.

the shit i've been hacking up has been either bright green or a darkish brown. i'm a little worried about the brown.
(i've also quit smoking during this whole ordeal so i'm sure that has something to do with it. i'll be hacking up black tar soon enough i'm certain)
